This year’s theme, Occupational Therapy in Action, highlights the active efforts of occupational therapists across the world to engage people in meaningful activities and participation.

Only registered Occupational Therapists can legally practice in Alberta. There are over 2,600 occupational therapists registered with ACOT.

Our online registry verifies if an occupational therapist holds a current practice permit. It is a serious offence to practice occupational therapy without a current practice permit.

October marks Occupational Therapy Month, a time to recognize and thank occupational therapists for their dedication to helping people of all ages to improve their daily lives.

To all registered OTs, thank you for adhering to the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics that keep the public safe!

September 30, 2025, is Canada’s 5th National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This honours the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.
As public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process, ACOT will be closed on Tuesday September 30th.

ACOT staff will be reflecting on readings and participating in activities designed to bring greater awareness of the truth about Canada’s history and the need for reconciliation.
