I was a gymnast for 12 years. At the beginning of every season we reviewed how to fall so that we wouldn't get injured when we fell off the equipment or out of a tumbling pass, a daily occurrence in the sport.

There is a growing body of research suggesting that this applies to older adults as well! Below are just a few studies that have shown that learning safe fall landing techniques can help reduce the severity of injury in the event of a fall. Contact us to learn more!

Long-time, no see! I have taken a little social media vacation in lieu of getting to spend an amazing week in beautiful Quebec City at the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s annual education conference. Met some amazing colleagues from around the country doing incredible things to advance the physiotherapy profession, improve access to care, and help position physiotherapists as leaders in optimizing the health and wellness of Canadians. Thanks for having me. Looking forward to next year!

We would love to prevent all falls but that’s not always realistic. Falls can happen, so instead of just avoiding them let’s prepare for them. One way we can prepare is by building pre-requisite strength, learning different techniques and practicing how to get on and off the floor. If you are concerned about you or a loved one’s ability to get on and off the floor we can help!
