Fascia & Chronic pain: What’s your body trying to tell you?
What do athletes, retirees, children and hard-working professionals have in common? I’m sure you guessed it, they all feel stiff and sore sometimes.
As a deep tissue massage therapist with an active lifestyle, I have both worked and lived with an extensive range of aches and pains over time. A common variable I’ve noticed is that we often wait too long to do something about it. When we let pain or stiffness linger in our bodies, despite whether it’s constant or occasional, it adds up. This is largely due to the nature of Fascia.
Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds and ties everything in our body together. When an area is being affected by inflammation and pain, or immobility, it begins to spread over time. Once a condition becomes chronic, generally, there are multiple layers of adhesive fascia to work through before one can resolve what initially triggered the body’s painful alarm system. The good news is: Massage can help!
My role as a massage therapist is to act as a conduit between you and your body by starting the necessary dialogue, which can lead to the relief of disabling its alarms.
