Normally at this time of year we would be sending out an invitation to our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Obviously, these are not normal times. Due to directives and recommendations from the Board of Health and all 3 levels of Government, the CIS Board is postponing the 2020 AGM until a later date. At this time, it is unclear when we will be able to reschedule the 2020 AGM. We do look forward to our annual meetings and hope to hold an AGM once governments have given their approvals to reconvene larger groups. We collectively pray for your well being as well as the continued success of the Christian Immigration Society and its Burial Fund. God Bless you, your family and our membership.

The Christian Immigration Society had it's genesis in post World War II Edmonton when previous immigrants took it upon themselves to assist new arrivals from Europe with finding churches, homes and jobs using the biblical verse Galatians 2:6, "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" as its inspirational slogan.
From these humble beginnings, we have now surpassed 70 years of existence. Together our forefathers started churches, schools, colleges, universities, financial institutions and other Christian organizations such as ours. It didn't take long before the Society's membership realized the need for support of those in need of burial services.
The www.christianburialfund.com is a nonprofit organization tasked with helping its members manage the cost of funerals. Already a member? "Share" this post/page with others so they too may benefit.

Did you know that over the past 10 years, members of the Christian Burial Fund have paid an average of about $120/year in dues and fees per membership? ... a husband and wife currently 80 years old would have paid a total of about $4000 over the past 60 years to cover BOTH of their funeral services and burial and perpetual care of gravesite. Compare that to "for profit" burials and services in 2017 that averaged in excess of $12,000 per burial in the Edmonton area. Are you ready to "Carry each other's burdens".
