Sometimes the body is tired…
but the mind keeps going.

I recently shared a new 36-minute guided Yoga Nidra practice on YouTube that includes what I call a healing dialogue 💗

Throughout the practice, gentle and intentional language is woven into the guided rest experience to support awareness, softness, and a different conversation with yourself.

As a clinical exercise physiologist and yoga therapist, I continue to be fascinated by the relationship between thoughts, body sensations, tension, recovery, and rest. Sometimes what we repeatedly say to ourselves matters just as much as how we move.

This practice is designed to help you pause, settle your nervous system, and reconnect with rest in a supportive and approachable way.

Blanket optional… but encouraged 😊

Hey, ! Do you know about Nordic Pole Walking? By simply adding poles to your walks, you'll engage twice as many muscles, offering a wonderfully comprehensive workout. And, I'm offering an affordable Nordic Pole Walking Workshop to help you get first-hand experience, learn the benefits, and meet a few people while you enjoy the workout. ✨ 26 Movement Moments ✨

This June, I’m inviting you to explore 26 ways to move during the month in celebration of the year 2026.

No perfection required.
No “all or nothing” mindset.
Just opportunities to move your body in ways that support your life.

Some movement moments might include:
💗 walking
💗 stretching
💗 gardening
💗 dancing in the kitchen
💗 practicing a squat
💗 taking a mindful breath before moving again

Because every movement counts.

The challenge officially launches May 26th (TODAY!) inside The MedFit Movement Studio.

If this resonates, I’d love to have you join us.

Have you ever heard of this book?

If not, the Mindful Movement program is an excellent way not only to be introduced to the writing but also to delve deeply into the author’s meaning.

A huge part of Mindful Movement’s inspiration stems from the insightful passages from this book; the words act as direct inspiration for the weekly Mindful Movement sessions (held each WEDNESDAY at 6:45AM).

Join us this week on Wednesday at 6:45AM for the next Mindful Movement Zoom Session, and get to know this book from the perspective of a mindful mover.

Link in bio too. 😉

One of my clients recently unloaded 150 logs of firewood at the lake.

But here’s the part that made my day…

She noticed herself using the movement strategies we’ve been practicing together:

✔️ hinging through her hips

✔️ using her squat

✔️ pacing herself

✔️ pausing to breathe and reset

And by the end?

No pain.

No medication.

Just a growing sense of confidence in what her body could do.

That’s exactly what I mean when I talk about Real Moves for Real Life. 💗

Movement practice isn’t only about exercises done perfectly during a workout. It’s about helping your body support you in everyday life — gardening, lifting, carrying, walking, and all the little moments that make up our days.

This week’s blog and video are all about a better way to bend forward and how movement strategy can change the way everyday tasks feel.

This past week, a client sent me an email that absolutely made my day. She had just returned from the lake where a truckload of firewood needed unloading — 150 logs in total. But instead of...

Bending forward isn’t the problem. Sometimes we simply need a better strategy for how we bend. 💗

In this week’s blog and Real Moves for Real Life video, I’m sharing a simple movement strategy called the hip hinge — helping distribute load through the hips and legs instead of asking the back to do all the work.

Perfect timing for gardening season 🌱

We explore:
✔ hip hinging
✔ standing + kneeling positions
✔ reducing unnecessary strain
✔ and practicing movement proactively before the season ramps up

Bending forward is something many of us do every single day — gardening, lifting groceries, unloading laundry, reaching toward the floor, or picking something up quickly.

But many people have never actually practiced *how* to distribute the work of that movement.

In this week’s blog and Real Moves for Real Life video, I explore a simple movement strategy called the hip hinge — a practical way to help distribute load through the hips and legs instead of asking the back to do all the work.

We explore:
✔ using the hips more effectively
✔ reducing unnecessary strain
✔ standing and kneeling bending strategies
✔ and practicing movement proactively before gardening season ramps up

One of the biggest reminders from this video:
Bending forward isn’t the problem. Sometimes we simply need a better strategy for how we bend.
