EmployAbilities

EmployAbilities Promoting and enhancing employment and/or learning opportunities for persons with disabilities. Please note that EmployAbilities is not a recruitment agency.

EmployAbilities is a community-based charitable non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. Active in Edmonton, Alberta since 1974, EmpoyAbilities serves people with disabilities and/or barriers to employment living in the Capital region and northern Alberta with a variety of programs and services. We also assist employers in finding staff that are ready, willing, and able to work - accessing an untapped market to fill their staffing needs. At EmployAbilities, we believe that community and economy are fundamentally intertwined, and that inclusive employment is the best way to build a stronger society and more profitable businesses. We measure success by assisting our clients in finding long-term meaningful employment, and work alongside allied organizations, government partners, and donors to raise awareness of the contributions people with people disabilities make to workplaces. We provide support for people with disabilities and barriers to employment. We provide resources that make them more employable, and help them find a job.

This week, we proudly celebrated the Grand Opening of EmployAbilities Grande Prairie and FutureWorks Grande Prairie. It was an afternoon filled with connection, collaboration, and hope for the future of our region.

Surrounded by community partners, employers, and supporters, we were honoured to host a Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting, marking an exciting new chapter focused on strengthening opportunities and building an inclusive, sustainable workforce.

We were grateful to hear inspiring remarks from Lori Po***ck (Chamber Chair), Mayor Kate Potter of Sexsmith, Brittany Oracheski (EmployAbilities Grande Prairie Supervisor), Maya Adomeit (FutureWorks Grande Prairie Supervisor), and Jason Loewer (EmployAbilities Executive Director), each speaking to the power of partnership and the importance of investing in people.

With more than 40 attendees, the space was filled with energy, optimism, and a shared belief that when communities come together, meaningful change happens.

This celebration was more than an opening - it was a reminder that hope grows when opportunity, support, and community meet. We are excited for what lies ahead and grateful to everyone who continues to support stronger futures in the Grande Prairie region.

EmployAbilities Grande Prairie and FutureWorks Grande Prairie would also like to extend immense gratitude to New Horizon Co-op and Safeway North for their generous donations that helped make this event a success.
