SHORT SUCCESS STORY. LONG POST!!!!!
Hello my name is Crystal Ducharme. I am 2 years and 2 months sober and 8 Pillars Recovery Foundation was a part of my recovery journey.
I started drinking at the age of 13 and not just a weekend drinker I was a blackout drunk that caused s**t shows where ever I ended up partying .
I then grew up and got married but still I drank alcohol on a regular basis like as soon as the clock struck 12:01 pm I would start till I passed out which led to a 15 pack a day pretty much .
I later got divorced because of the actions of my drinking. My drinking caused me to do things a normal person would not do . I cheated on my husband . Not blaming alcohol but the actions I chose to do that came from when I drank.
I later was in a mentally abusive relationship that caused me to get deeper into my drinking and then eventually lead me to the world of drugs...
At first I was just a weekend user for drugs but then eventually it became an everyday hassle of getting loans to pay for my habit at many places at once .
I eventually left that relationship and got sober from drugs but not alcohol . I learned how to drink social for a while and became a little better to deal with . (I thought so but apparently not so much)
Let's move to 2020 in the COVID era I lost 4 people in a 3 month period and didn't understand how to deal with grief . I got back into drugs heavily again . This went on until February 2024 .
In that 4 year period I lost my kids my home my dignity and my mind most of all . I was in and out of hospital and psych units and finally wanted to give up on my life more than once .
So after I had nothing left to lose I decided that being on opioids was not the way I wanted to die and leave my kids to remember me by.
I wanted to get my life back . So I got my best friend who got paid by my dealer to drive me up to my appointment at Poundmakers Lodge for rehab. I made it there high as a kite for the last time .
I lived at Poundmakers for 6 months after that I needed more support for my sobriety to make sure I would stay sober . I found 8 Pillars Recovery Foundation online and right away I filled out the online application and not even 10 minutes later I got a call back from a worker at 8 pillars . They explained how they worked and it was what I was looking for so I moved in the next day .
I lived at 8 Pillars for 10 months and I loved every bit of it. I went to meetings and did their program and became the House Mentor and monitored the clients to make sure everyone had a safe environment to live in.
I would recommend 8 Pillars Recovery Foundation to anyone who needed a safe place to finish their recovery journey from rehab or even if you didn't do rehab. Both faithfully and honestly . They were a major help and I love the staff for being as amazing as they were to me and the rest of the clients period.

This isn't a halfway house.
This is a LAUNCHPAD.

Every person who walks through our doors in Edmonton isn't checking in.
They're LAUNCHING, into the life they were supposed to have before addiction hijacked it.

We are 8 Pillars Recovery Foundation, we are building a movement in this city.

One sober life. One rebuilt family. One reclaimed future at a time.

If you've been watching our page and thinking "maybe" this is your moment. πŸ’™

We have homes in Edmonton.
We have beds available.
We have a community ready to welcome you.
We have staff who actually care.

Not "maybe someday." Not "when things get worse." NOW. While you still have a choice. While you still have the people who love you. While the version of you that wants better is still loud enough to hear.

One message. That's all it takes.

πŸ“² DM us "HOME" and let's start the conversation.

The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek." Joseph Campbell

That cave? For a lot of our residents, it was the door to a sober living home. Fear of judgment. Fear of structure. Fear of actually feeling things. But on the other side of that fear? There is

πŸ’› Clarity
πŸ’› Connection
πŸ’› A version of yourself you're proud of

8 Pillars Recovery Foundation is that door, Edmonton. And we'll be right there when you're ready to walk through it.

HAPPY THURSDAY SOBER NINJAS!!
Welcome to TESTIMONIAL Thursday!!!

My name is Rhonda Parlee McCrea.

I was in sober living at 8 Pillars on the 11th of April 2025. I had to flee a domestic violence situation. With their help I immediately moved to sober living. And with their carefull guidance and strict program skills, I learned the tools and remained sober for 1 year and 22 days. This is a big accomplishment as of now I have my own place and have purchased a car. I plan on doing road trips in search of my spirit animal that being a bear. Being in sober living has awarded me with the tools and techniques to remain and continue to be sober in this day and age. Not to mention the new sober friends I've met and still converse with today. Im living proof that their program works and highly recommend you do the following: Obtain housing from 8 Pillars, follow the program principals and guidelines, obtain a sponsor and attend at least 3 AA meetings a week, and DO NOT USE

Lots of love and encouragement.

Congratulations to You Rhonda Parlee we are super proud of you πŸ‘ πŸ₯° πŸ’›

To the moms, dads, siblings, and friends watching someone you love struggle with addiction πŸ’”

You can't force someone into recovery. But you can:

β†’ Stop enabling (even when it hurts)
β†’ Hold boundaries with love, not punishment
β†’ Know what resources exist in Edmonton
β†’ Point them toward sober living when they're ready

At 8 Pillars, we support the WHOLE journey, including the people who've been holding their breath for years.

You didn't cause it. You can't control it. But you can be ready when the door opens.
