The Strength of a Mother 🌸

From pregnancy to birth to motherhood.
Each season calls for a different kind of strength.

Mental, Physical, Spiritual.

On the days you think, “I can’t do this anymore,”
somehow… you do.

✨ 985 days (and counting)… ✨

That’s how long I’ve spent breastfeeding so far…Almost 10% of my life poured into nourishing my babies. 💕

Along the way I’ve learned: it’s not black & white, some days you’ll want to quit, sometimes it still hurts, and it never lasts forever. Breastfeeding is messy, exhausting, beautiful, painful, and precious all in the same day.

And no matter what, someone will always have an opinion: “That you didn’t breastfeed long enough, or that you nursed for “too long.” But here’s the truth: the only timeline that matters is yours.

🤍 Every journey is different.
🤍 Every day counts.
🤍 And you’re doing an incredible job.

What about you? If you’ve breastfed, what’s one thing you’ve learned along the way? Share it in the comments to encourage other moms ✨

I know you’ve probably heard it before: “Your body was designed for this.” But what does that actually mean? Let’s look at the incredible hormones that carry you from pre-labour through postpartum:

🤰Before labour – Oxytocin begins to rise, prostaglandins soften the cervix, and relaxin loosens your pelvis. Your body is preparing.

🌊 During labour – Oxytocin drives contractions, beta-endorphins provide natural pain relief and help you enter “labour land,” while catecholamines (adrenaline) give you bursts of energy when it’s time to push.

🌸 At birth – A powerful oxytocin surge helps your baby and placenta be born, while endorphins peak to give feelings of relief, love, and even euphoria.

🤱 After birth – Oxytocin promotes bonding and milk let-down, prolactin builds your milk supply, and cortisol keeps you alert and connected to your baby.

Every stage is beautifully orchestrated. Truly, your body was designed for this.

✨ Wondering if your baby is really getting enough milk?

You don’t need to measure every ounce to know your baby gives you clues every single day. 💕

Here are 3 reassuring signs to look for 👶🏼

Save this for later or share with another mama who needs the reminder.

🤍 You were never meant to do this alone.

Did you know? A “normal” pump session can look very different from mom to mom and even day to day. Some may see just a few drops, others an ounce, and sometimes a full bottle, all of it is normal.

On average, most pump sessions yield about 0.5–2 oz combined, but it can be less or more depending on the day. Some moms produce much more (oversupply), while others make exactly what their baby needs.

There’s no such thing as “just enough” or “only” when it comes to breastmilk, it is made perfectly for your baby. What matters most is that your little one is fed, growing, and thriving. 👶 💕

✨ What is Paced Bottle Feeding? ✨

Paced bottle feeding is a method of offering a bottle that mimics the natural rhythm of breastfeeding. Instead of milk flowing quickly and continuously, the caregiver controls the pace so baby can suck, swallow, breathe, and rest just as they would at the breast.

This method has been shown to:
✔️ Reduce overfeeding and spit-up
✔️ Support healthy weight gain
✔️ Encourage babies to listen to their hunger and fullness cues
✔️ Make transitions between breast and bottle easier

How to do it:

Hold your baby in an upright or side-lying position, with their head slightly higher than their body. Hold the bottle horizontally so the ni**le fills halfway with milk. Let baby actively draw the milk out instead of it dripping freely. Pause every few swallows to give breaks, burp, and switch sides to mimic breastfeeding.

If you’re anxious about baby getting a bottle preference, this is a great place to start.

🌸 Important Petal & Latch Update 🌸

I’m so grateful to share that I’ll be taking a step back from accepting any more birth doula clients at this time.

This past year has been such a blessing — walking alongside families, witnessing the strength of mothers, and educating women through the hope and strength of Christ. I’m forever thankful for every single story I’ve been invited into. 💛

In this next season, I’m returning to my “roots” — focusing deeply on lactation education. I see such a need for this in Edmonton and surrounding areas, and I’m excited to pour my heart into helping more families find confidence, peace, and joy in their feeding journeys. By January 2026, I plan to be fully certified as a Lactation Support Provider, allowing me to serve with even greater knowledge and skill.

I’m not disappearing — I’ll still be here, learning, sharing, and supporting. And if you’ve just found out you’re pregnant or will soon, know that I’ll be back to taking births starting Spring 2026.

Here’s to new seasons, deeper learning, and serving families in exactly the way God is calling me to right now. 🤍
