I can’t possibly be the only one who suffers from this after New Years 😅
Even though I am comfortable in the gym and know what I am doing, thanks to Annie (.fitness ) getting back into my routine after the holidays is anxiety inducing for me 😰
It’s a rollercoaster of emotions for me 🤣 I am always eager to get back to my routine and crave the consistency of my workouts and how they make me feel…. But the idea of sitting there fumbling with the machine adjusting the weight between sets, trying to find the right setting that I can handle after a break… ya no thanks!
It’s normal to lose muscle mass, and adjusting to where you are at is key… but i’d rather avoid doing this in a gym full of people, especially the post-holiday rush.
So if you are like me or maybe you are just trying to set a new goal for this year, here’s some tips and tricks I have found to help me get back into the swing of things ☺️
🏡 try working out from home until you feel comfortable to venture out into the gym. I start with simple yoga and stretching to get my body slowly adjusted and help strengthen my muscles before putting them to work
👯 find a walking buddy and get outside! (Dogs count too 🐶) make a commitment to get outside at least once a day and go for a walk or take advantage of the free outdoor rinks we have around the city.
💪 do yourself a favour and call the PT you have had your eye on. They can help you ease yourself into your workouts and tailor them to you and your needs! Many offer online training that you can do from the comfort of your home and some offer group classes which are a great way to keep things fun.
If you have read this far you are the real MVP and I appreciate you ♥️
I also want to know if I’m a psycho or if other people struggle with the “gym scaries” too, and if so what do you do to fight them!? Let ya girl know 💁🏼♀️
