Faculty of Law Mental Health and Wellness Committee The Mental Health & Wellness Committee (MHWC) is new to the UofA Law Centre as of '14. Our Aims? Improve student life, reduce stress & raise awareness.

The Faculty of Law Mental Health and Wellness Committee is committed to helping students manage the pressures and specific stresses of law school by promoting healthy habits, offering mindful activities, and acting as a channel of peer support. The Committee provides general information, support, and stress-reducing events that reflect useful aids of peers who have been through similar degrees of

difficulty in managing school stresses. However, if you are feeling overwhelmed, please seek professional help. Several helpful resources are posted below:

Reading week has come to a close, which means it’s back to the mid-semester grind of trying to stay focused in class and spending hours in the library to keep on top of your readings. The Mental Health and Wellness Committee is here to help you ease back into your routine and give you a healthy break from studying with a sequel to our fall semester movie night!

Targeting Anxious Thoughts: A Workshop by the University of Alberta Clinical and Counselling Services

Do you find yourself dwelling on worries? Feeling anxious about the worst case scenario? On January 10th at noon, join the Mental Health and Wellness Committee and the U of A Clinical and Counselling Services for a lunchtime workshop on understanding and targeting anxious thoughts. Counselling Services has modified their schedule to make this workshop convenient and accessible for law students, so we would love to see a great turn-out for this event! :)

Alberta Lawyers' Assistance Society ("Assist") is a charity whose goal is to keep lawyers in Alberta happy and healthy. Assist is hosting their 6th annual "Walk for Wellness" next Thursday (September 21st) from noon until 1:00pm to encourage members of the Edmonton legal community to promote their physical and mental health.
