In Touch Equine Services Equine massage services, which includes stretching, remedial exercises, and hydrotherapy. In addition, we provide barefoot trimming and hoof care.

Roni and Sarah have completed the 2 year program at Darcy Lane/Trios college for Equine Massage therapy. This program gives them 2,200 hours of multiple subject in class and hands on learning. This includes many different conditions that massage, hydrotherapy, and remedial exercises can assist with. We are both very passionate about the welfare of horses, and ensuring that we give the highest possible care we can provide. We are always increasing our knowledge and learning. We plan based on what the horse needs on an individual basis.

A filly was born at the barn! Everybody was over the moon! Of course after making sure everything was ok I was really excited for the opportunity to see that!

Eponychium! Or some of my favourit names are fairy fingers, and foal slippers.
Foals are born with soft tissue covering the entire hoof capsule to prevent internal injuries to the mare.
Within minutes of standing up and taking a few steps it starts to harden. Fully hardening between 24-72 hours after birth.

Swipe left to see them!

Let's talk Thrush
Thrush is the decomposition of the frog, bacteria is destroying the frog faster than it can grow. Essentially hoof rot.

Before the black matter appears it's present in white patches that are the bacteria cells before they start to rot and turn black with bad odor.

There are different causes for thrush to develop. Some of them are:
- improper hoof circulation that is associated with contracted heels and buildup of dead sole that crowds the frog
- unbalanced diet
- lack of movement

Topical treatment would be like a band aid. It won't fix the problem.
Proper hoof function must be restored with the right trim to allow exfoliating the dead matter from the hoof.
Removing sugar based feeds from the diet.

Just another regular trim. It's very important to keep the horses on a set trimming schedule. It can prevent issues and injuries in the hoof itself or the rest of the body.

A full nip!
You bring the hoof wall down to sole level, that way the other structures in the hoof will weight bare.
This will promote healthier hoof structures.

BAREFOOT TRIMMING!
Its new and exciting and it's happening right here in our business!
what does it mean you're asking?
Well, barefoot trim/ balance trim is a way to trim the horse as naturally as possible and restore the natural balance to the hoof. The hoof is able to keep its integrity with no interference of nails and metal shoes.
