Big News for Athletic Therapy! 🏥💪

We’re excited to share a major step forward for the profession Certified Athletic Therapists will soon be able to direct bill through TELUS Health eClaims!

Thanks to the continued advocacy from CATA and the Move Freely, Live Fully campaign, this means easier access and reduced out-of-pocket expenses for patients across Canada. 🙌

But active rest and doing multiple activities is crucial for long term athlete development and decreasing injuries!

🏒 The Importance of Rest During Hockey Season

In the hustle of practices and games, it’s easy to overlook the value of rest. But balance is key to staying strong all season long!

✅ Prevent Burnout: Rest days give young athletes time to recharge mentally and physically.
✅ Reduce Injuries: Proper recovery helps muscles repair and stay ready for action.
✅ Boost Performance: Rested players perform better on the ice.

A warm up is so important!! Especially in our cooler temperature indoor and outdoor activities!

Warm-Up Tips Before Winter Sports 🥅

Before kids hit the ice for hockey practice or games, a proper warm-up can make all the difference in preventing injuries:

🔥 Dynamic Stretches: Incorporate leg swings, arm circles, and torso twists to loosen up.
🏃‍♂️ Light Cardio: A few minutes of jogging or jumping jacks gets the blood flowing.
🦵 Sport-Specific Drills: Mimic skating motions or stickhandling to activate key muscles.

Taking 5-10 minutes to prepare their bodies for action helps enhance performance and reduce the risk of strain. Play hard, play safe!
