Healing is possible. Recovery is real. 🤍

This powerful story shares the journey of Roger Orr, owner of Retro Daze Cafe- who faced deep challenges from a young age — bullying, feeling disconnected from family, and the pain that led to struggles with drugs and alcohol.

Through support, treatment, and the guidance of counsellors, he found a path forward. Today, he stands as a testament to strength, resilience, and over 20 years of sobriety.
His story also speaks honestly about the cycles of hurt — and how healing means choosing to break them.

As part of Wellbriety Week, we honour stories like this. Stories that remind us:
✨ You are not alone
✨ Your past does not define you
✨ Healing is always within reach

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is here. Our doors are always open.

🎥 Wellbriety Week Spotlight

Our wellbeing is strongest when we take care of ourselves together. 🤍

Today we’re featuring the Chisasibi Fitness Center and manager Trevor Monaghan, sharing simple ways our community can stay active and build healthier lifestyles — even just 30–60 minutes a day.

Whether it’s walking, working out, or moving in your own way, it all matters. These small steps help support not only our physical health, but our mental and emotional wellbeing too.

Physical activity not only improves your physical health, but it also plays a powerful role in supporting your mental wellbeing, helping reduce stress, boost your mood, and keep you grounded.

Let’s continue to lift each other up, support one another, and choose wellness together.

Taking the first step to ask for help can change everything.

In this short video, our Deputy Youth Grand Chief and our community worker Vanessa show an example of someone coming into the Psychosocial Department asking to speak to someone because he’s struggling with life, grief, and drinking too much.

At Psychosocial, we are here to support anyone who may be going through a difficult time — whether it’s mental health, alcohol or drug use, grief, or simply needing someone to talk to.
We can help connect you with one-on-one support and discuss options like treatment centres if that’s something you’re ready for.

🚶 Walk-ins welcome Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM
📞 Our helpline is available 24/7
You don’t have to go through it alone. Support is here.

This video is shared as part of our Wellbriety Week initiative, reminding our community that support and healing are always within reach.🤍

🎣 What a beautiful way to begin Wellbriety Week.
Despite the cold drives and the winter storm warning in the forecast, we headed out for our ice fishing trip and it turned into a wonderful day on the land. The weather held up for us, spirits were high, and it was great to see everyone enjoying the fresh air and good company.
We had a great group join us, and the fishing was a success! Three of our participants caught fish, and one person even caught their very first fish ever — a moment that made the day even more special. 🎉

A big shout out and thank you to our amazing guides Mark and Nathan, and to Catherine for the warm hospitality. We truly appreciate you taking such great care of our group and making sure everyone had a place to warm up in the cabin when the cold set in.
It was a great day filled with laughter, connection, and time on the land — a perfect way to start Wellbriety Week.
Stay tuned throughout the week as we continue sharing more events, moments, and daily videos celebrating healing, community, and wellbriety. 🤍

🎉 Wellbriety Week is here!

We are honoured to start this special week with a message from our Cree Nation Youth Grand Chief. Her words remind us of the strength of our people and the importance of walking together on our healing and recovery journeys.

Throughout the week, we invite everyone to take part in our Wellbriety Week events — from community activities to learning opportunities and celebration. There is something for everyone.

👀 Be on the lookout for our daily videos featuring messages, teachings, and encouragement from community members.

Let’s support one another, celebrate recovery, and continue building strong, healthy families and communities.
