On International Women’s Day, it feels especially fitting to introduce the newest member of the Top Shelf team, Emily Hawco! Emily is not only new to Top Shelf, she is also new to Fort McMurray and we would like to give her a big welcome!
Emily brings a strong background as a hockey player and player development coach. Emily grew up playing AAA in NL, competing at the U13, U15, and U18 Female AAA levels with the Eastern Icebreakers. Emily also represented Team NL at the Atlantic Challenge Cup (2017–2019) and the 2019 Canada Winter Games, and attended the Team Atlantic Summer Camp. Emily later continued her playing career in the Women’s Junior A Hockey League with the Atlantic Surge.
Off the ice, Emily recently completed her Bachelor of Human Kinetics and Recreation (Co-op) at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has experience working in athlete development with APSolute Performance and Wellness and Xtreme Hockey, where she coached power skating, off-ice training, and helped athletes develop their shooting and stick-handling skills.
Emily is passionate about helping athletes build confidence, develop their skills, and grow their love for the game, and we’re thrilled to have her working with players at Top Shelf.
Be sure to give Emily a warm welcome to Fort McMurray and Top
Shelf!
