Can I let you in on a secret about friendships in adulthood?

Sometimes they are really freaking hard.
Like, really freaking hard.

But so often the friends we have in our adult years are the only thing saving us from hitting rock bottom.

The truth is that even the strongest friendship bonds are not forged in stone. No, just as life is ever-changing, friendships will always ebb and flow.

Sometimes your closest friends fade away into the background of your life.
Sometimes background friends somehow become part of your inner circle.

Sometimes brand new people enter your life and become the friends you never knew you needed.
Sometimes your heart aches because it misses the friendships that used to be but are no more.

No matter where you are in your adult friendship journey, don't overthink it and don't dwell in the past.

Instead, hold on tight and ride the friendship wave.

Welcome the ones that find their way to you.
Send peace to the ones who fade away.
Love the friends that are there right now.

Today, I’m reflecting. I’m reflecting back on the well over 1,000 hours ⏳ & 18 months 📆 I spent learning two course curriculums 📖 and the vast knowledge I gained in that time. Tons of reading, written assignments, exams, study buddy sessions, and about 10 full days of intensives between the 2 certifications via Zoom thanks to Covid and not being able to get together in person. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done! 🙏🏼💕

As a (now former) nursing professional of over 20 years, it was of absolute utmost importance to me to ensure I was being educated by an accredited institution & a credible teacher. I wanted to add to my already solid health & wellness foundation. Because unfortunately, there is no federal or provincial requirement standard for this type of education and as a result there are a lot of “schools” & “teachers” in the wellness arena that are not accredited. You can simply pay a fee & be “certified”🙄 Of course anyone who TRULY knows me would know 100% without a doubt that that is NOT how I roll AT ALL!! 😂 I would only ever consider taking a fully accredited program!! My teacher/mentor has been in the wellness field for over 30 years. She’s even the former Education Program Director for the Chopra Centre (yes, that’s Deepak Chopra in case you’re wondering and I KNOW you’ve heard of him 😂) She’s simply one of the most amazing people I’ve had the privilege to get to know 💕

Today marks 3 years already since I graduated from this program & became a Certified Meditation & Mindfulness Instructor as well as a Certified Mindful at Work Trainer. My goodness, time flies! In the last three years, I have taught classes & workshops to some amazing individuals & groups & I have taken more than my fair share of continuing education courses📚to further enhance my knowledge base to share with my students. Continuing competence is engrained in me from 20+ years of nursing & I put that into whatever I am doing! 🤓 I knew I was transitioning out of nursing but I wanted to take my experience and combine it into a new area of helping people.

We still don’t have enough focus on mental health & overall wellbeing in society so every person I can reach with this education is hopefully helping to spread awareness. 🙏🏼

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about how to relieve their stress levels a bit & learning how to live a more mindful life, please let me know or pass my info on! If you have a business & you’re interested in knowing how incorporating a more mindful culture could benefit your organization, I would be happy to have a discussion about it. 💕

Wise words 🙏🏼💕

It's a wild world these days, and finding your community of like-hearted people is of utmost importance to your well being. As you may have heard loneliness is the latest concern for the US Surgeon General.

Some of us can feel lonely in a roomful of people, especially if the conversation is based around news or pop culture. I don't know about you, but these topics aren't as important to me as is being with people who are on a journey to peace, love, compassion and finding out who you really are and how to savor your life.

A Zen Master's words often remind me:

“Life and death are of supreme importance. Time swiftly passes by and opportunity is lost. Each of us should strive to awaken. Awaken! Take heed, do not squander your life.” ― A quote from 13th Centurry Zen Master, Dōgen

Last week we wrapped up the final session of a customized Mindful at Work Training Program with an amazing group of local healthcare workers. We talked about struggles and stressors in the workplace and ways we can manage that stress and build up our resiliency. Everyone went home with lots of new tools in their toolbox!

If you want to bring Mindful at Work Training to your organization, please reach out & let’s have a chat!
