The Walk-in Medical Clinic at Southpointe is operated by Emergency Services Fort Saskatchewan. This company was originally founded in 1976. Allen and Ian Carter were in the towing business and started the first ambulance service with the help of Doug Dobson. They provided the ambulance service for Fort Saskatchewan for one year and then expanded into Vegreville, Redwater, Vilna, Andrew and Radway. Over the years stronger competitors moved into the market and by 1984 all the ambulance locations had been sold. The company lay dormant for 29 years and was then used to open the clinic.
The original clinic was located next to the old original hospital in downtown Fort Saskatchewan and was named the Walk-in Medical Clinic. In 2010 the clinic moved to the highway 21 location to accommodate the need for more physicians. The name was changed to the Walk-in Medical Clinic at Southpointe to differentiate it from the two other walk-in clinics that had opened in Fort Saskatchewan.
The clinic prides itself on the feeling of family and team that has been created and preserved over the years. Dr Carter, Dr Antoniuk, Dr Guzik, Dr Amin and Dr Roob have been with the clinic since the early days.
