Leah misses and loves her big brother Mason. She was finally able to take a short walk with him in the hospital! This kind of unconditional love is what we feel for everyone who is supporting our gofundme, liking and sharing out posts and inviting friends to like our page. We have a long ways to go to our goal to help Mason. Please donate, like, share and invite friends to this page. Many thanks.https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-masons-recovery

Thank you with all our hearts, to those who have donated to Mason's Gofundme. Although Mason has survived what we hope is the rock bottom (flatlining) from Guillain-Barre Syndrome, he is still in hospital on life support. Mason's recovery does not have a guaranteed outcome. As his nerves slowly regrow, he has been gaining a tiny bit of movement although still unable to speak and largely paralyzed. We have no idea how much Mason might recover or what his recovery will entail. He might need a disability van, a specialized wheelchair, home care etc. If you have already donate, we thank you. If you are unable to donate, you could help us by sharing this post and sending it to all your friends to raise awareness. Thank you.

Paralyzed, unable to communicate, move or eat is how blind 13-year-old Mason awoke in the Pedi… Kenneth Washburn needs your support for Help Mason's recovery

Paralyzed, unable to communicate, move or eat is how blind 13-year-old Mason awoke in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in London, Ontario. What Mason's mother thought was a bad case of the flu was instead AMAN, a version of Guillain-Barre syndrome. Having survived 3 terrifying episodes of flat-lining combined with a fever of 109 degrees, Mason still has a very long road ahead of him.

Although blind since birth, Mason was the most energetic, curious and active child. From finger painting to running races, cutting his hair with the cat clippers, asking a million questions about a topic that interested him, to rock climbing, sky diving, and skiing...Mason has been unafraid to tackle life at full force.

Guillain-Barre has destroyed the nerves in Mason's body, leaving him paralyzed, unable to speak, swallow, move and not in control of his bodily functions.

Although Mason has recently been taken off of his ventilator, Mason's recovery could take months or even years, with the distinct possibility of long-term disabilities. Mason and his mom will be moved over 2.5 hrs away into a children's rehab center in Toronto once Mason has hit predetermined milestones. Mason's mom must live with Mason full time, separate and apart from her 2-year-old daughter and family. No one knows the length of time nor to what level or recovery Mason will achieve, nor what possible specialized equipment (wheelchairs, medical apparatus, mobility van, etc...) and specialized care he will need. With that in mind, this fund-raiser is being set up for Mason's long-term medical expenses and care. Any sized donations are extremely appreciated.

Our goal is to raise at least $50,000 for Mason and his family while they are trying to navigate this extremely difficult time. Donors will be updated with ongoing announcements and pictures on behalf of the family.

If you cannot financially donate you can still be of significant help to Mason. Please donate blood and plasma as Mason has received multiple rounds from donors like you! And most importantly of all please share with all your friends and on all social platforms.
