🤍 January 9th will always be considered a particularly sensitive day for me as it marks the day my life partner of 10 years passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack.
Today marks 13 years without Carsten.
Longer than we were together, yet he continues to have such a significant impact in my life.
Over the last few years I have gone very quiet of that part of my life. Perhaps I’ve now reached a steady part of this journey to begin sharing again.
The journey of healing, of grief that hasn’t been linear and nor should it.
We are all such unique beings and it’s so important to process and integrate life changing events at our own pace. Grief and healing has no formula.
There are days that I’m steady and days that I’m not. And that’s when I cocoon, for that brings me peace.
A peace that isn’t sparkly or grandiose but a peace that keeps me grounded to continue on with my journey.
Grief ebbs and flows like the ocean with eddies that will tow us under. Yet, we always manage to come back up for air and dry off from the drench.
The process is far from sparkly.
And when the days are flat, I’ll take that.
And I will ALWAYS cherish that decade of loving, laughter and learning 🤍
