🐈 Check out our Cozy September Events Calendar, Fredericton! Besides hosting many of our purrfect recurring events, we are introducing some pawsome new ones for you to check out this month: a social art night in the cafe, cat themed trivia with proceeds from the event going to DunRoamin' Stray and Rescue, and a meet and greet with DeviCat.Art (one of our amazing kitty merch sellers at the cafe)! We are also beginning to host some evening on Friday nights, so you can look forward to some later events for those of you who are more nocturnal (like many of our resident cat friends)! Let's bring the community together with our mutual love for our kitty friends!

All of the events that you can book ahead of time are live on our booking website and all of the events are also accessible on our page if you want more details regarding each event! Some events fill up rather quickly, so make sure you book well in advance if there is an event you are thinking about attending!! 🐈

Ahhhh...fall... I LOVE this time of year and being outside as much as possible as the season shifts and things change in nature.

Join me outside in September for some tranquil peace like none other. No need to gasp 'serenity now!' when you are out here.. you are INSPIRED to breathe while in this environment. Let this beauty and peace help and guide us along, while we listen, on our healing journey.

An affirmation first: May peace and nurturing - self love and self care actions - be part of what we do for ourselves every day. Reminding us that being the best versions of ourselves, helps us be the best version for others.

I truly feel that all of our power lies in our breath. So just breathe and just notice... drifting away while doing this? Smile and come back to your breath. You can try in for 4, get more in for 5, super slowly exhale for 8 or 10, 12... nice long exhale, Settling at the bottom and just noticing. and .... Wow! Look at us flexing our neuroplasticity! YOU can calm the self, YOU have the power to bring it all back and down and settle ... and your body, mind, and spirit responds and LOVES it! Keep going...

All with our simple breath - finding a calm nervous when we need to - accessing it - NOT finding ourselves with no way out of random spinning thoughts or rabbit holes that lead us no where. Maybe for a minute sometimes, since we are human! But not being at the mercy of our wandering minds. We are not doomed to be helpless against ourselves when our minds race, our nerves act up, our tummies twirl ... all normal human things, and to varying degrees, based on one's own traumas in life. Alas, we have lifelines in our selfcare practices! (So grateful for these too..)

So ... note to selves... We have this AMAZING tool in our breath!! (so many more tools too btw, go to a class near you!!) We just need to practice using our breath ... squeeze it in!

My breath has saved me more than once on this journey. Practice coming back to yourself using this life force today.

Reiki explained without the "woowoo".........

Reiki can be understood as a relaxation and stress-reduction technique that uses light touch (or near-touch) to help the body enter a calm state.
When you’re stressed, your nervous system stays in β€œfight or flight,” which makes it harder for the body to heal, digest, and repair. Reiki sessions encourage the opposite: a shift into the parasympathetic nervous system (β€œrest and digest”), where natural recovery processes work best.

How Reiki may work for you:

Touch therapy effect: Gentle, non-invasive touch can lower heart rate, relax muscles, and signal safety to the brain.

Attention and presence: The practitioner’s calm focus helps the recipient feel cared for, which can lower stress hormones like cortisol.

Placebo and expectation: If someone believes the session will help, their body may respond with real, measurable changes (like reduced pain perception). Having the belief is allowing your subconscious to help heal what needs to be healed. (Reiki still works without the need to believe or understand it though πŸ˜‰)

Energy as body awareness: Instead of a mystical force, β€œenergy” can be described as the body’s subtle cues β€” warmth, tingling, tension release β€” that people become more aware of during deep relaxation.

In short: Reiki, is a guided relaxation method that can use touch or not and focused attention to help people de-stress, ease tension, and support the body’s natural ability to recover πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’š
