Nice to Meet You!

My name is Heather Roxborough and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Province of New Brunswick. I have been offering psychotherapy in private practice since 2015. I have an evidence-based and holistic approach to wellness. I look forward to working with you to support your wellness goals. General Background ~

I bring diverse training and experiences with me into my psychology practice.

I received a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology at the University of New Brunswick, pursued my graduate studies at the University of British Columbia and completed my Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology. My research focused on perfectionism, su***de, and psychopathology. Vancouver, UBC, and Vancouver Coastal Health also offered me the opportunity to explore new and different yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices while I completed my Masters degree. UBC also heavily emphasized evidence-informed psychological treatments during my training, including CBT, DBT, interpersonal, and psychodynamic approaches. My psychology residency in Fredericton, NB involved placements in a private practice setting where mind-body approaches and psychodynamic approaches to treatment were emphasized, and at the Operational Stress Injury Clinic where I have received training in evidence-informed treatments for PTSD including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I am recognized by the EMDR International Association as Internationally Certified EMDR Therapist. I am well equipped from a variety of frameworks and treatment approaches to support you in your individual needs. I am committed to developing a treatment plan that supports each person with their unique needs. More on Clinical Training ~

From the beginning, my interests in psychology have been broad and diverse. I have enjoyed studying a wide variety of topics, working with a wide variety of supervisors and trainers, and assisting many different clients. Having trained extensively in cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness based interventions, dialectical behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and a number of specific trauma processing therapies including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, I bring a variety of skills to assist in your healing process. This combined with my skills and intensive training in assessment, prevention, and intervention for su***de and self-harm, both through dialectical behaviour therapy and ongoing professional development such as ASIST: Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training, allows me multiple means of determining what treatment intervention will best assist you in your processing. Present Day Experience and Vision ~

Most recently, my clinical focus has been on assessing and treating Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other operational stress injuries in military veterans, and active and retired RCMP members at the Fredericton Operational Stress Injury Clinic. This clinic is part of a network of clinics across Canada dedicated to treating our veterans and RCMP members. In April 2016 I moved from full time work at the OSI Clinic into full time work in my private practice in the community. My goal is to continue treating PTSD as well as offer psychological services to the wider community and collaborate with other health and wellness professionals. I bring my traditional psychology training and research-based therapies, and for those who are interested I bring a desire to collaborate with other practitioners provide an integrated or a holistic mind-body approach to your health and wellness. There are many paths to wellness and I am interested in learning what is important to you, be it yoga, meditation, athletic pursuits, a love for animals or nature, art, relationships, music, any hobbies and interests, your spiritual beliefs and worldview, and lifestyle needs and choices and integrating that into your wellness plan. In short I am open to hearing your story, learning what is important to you, and incorporating that into your treatment plan. Areas of Treatment Provided ~
