I am always moved by the transformation I witness when I watch women come together on the woods.

I watch women that carry a lot of stress and responsibilities, slowly start to feel relaxed as the forest welcomes them exactly as they are.

I see spark return as they explore the forest with their senses.

I witness women start to open and be vulnerable with each other.

I listen to women sigh a sense of relief knowing they aren't alone.

I watch women bloom.

I feel so grateful for the group of women thay showed up for Women in the Woods: Spring Nourishment Day Retreat this past weekend.
We were all nourished by the woods, each other and ourselves.
It is such a simple, yet, profound way of coming back to ourselves when we are drowning with stress and responsibilities.
Next Women in the Woods will be in Guelph on Sat June 13.
DM for the details!
Hope to see you in the woods!

What do you do when life throws you a flood?

It's inevitable!

Despite all the therapy and regulation skills, we can be flooded with an experience, emotion, memory that is simply too much to deal with!!

I sometimes want to run away and avoid the overwhelm!! When the spring flood hit our basement and we couldn't stop the water coming in, I didnt know if i wanted to cry or laugh. (I did both)

I also wanted to hide away in my bed and make it go away. That didn't happen.
But, what did happen was learning how to approach this overwhelming experience in ways that helped me feel supported ans grounded!!

Thought I'd share the simple practices with you so can you apply them the next time you are feeling overwhelmed!

A huge shout out and gratitude to my roomate .bre for all her hard work! And special thanks to for stepping in with a plow and pump!! You guys were lifesavers!!!

A year and a half ago I packed up my life on the city and moved to Manitoulin Island. Many people were concerned I would be so isolated -and so was I!

But, as I celebrated my birthday last weekend I was blessed to be surrounded by a very special community of new dear friends!

There is something really special about life here on the island. We all come together, from all walks of life, and join in on fun outings and support each other.

There is a little more spaciousness in life here that allows for deeper connections, big laughs, creative workshops and lots of adventures!

4 months into the new move i panicked thinking I made a mistake. But now, I see how much this lifestyle supports me!

This is a sneak peak into my journal from last spring.

Looking back, I can swing how I was in the thick of my own messy transition as I was adjusting to the recent move to the island.

A year later, as I am settling into my new life and have community taking root, I can see those moments of panic weren't a sign that id make a mistake.

It was the natural messiness of transition.

The back and forth rhythm was actually the roots of my new life growing in the dark, preparing the flowers that are starting to bloom today.

This is what the season of spring teaches us. The process of transition is long and hard. We get clues or spring only to be plummeted into winter again. Yet, this back and forth is part of the process. And, there is so much change happening that we dont even see.

Are you stuck in the messiness of change? Ive been there....many times. It can feel so disorienting.

I can be a guide as you walk through this change. As a Somatic therapist, I help support your nervous system to find safety and grounding.
As a Life Transition Doula, I help you move through change with intention and rituals to support the birth of the new version of yourself that is ready to take root just below the surface.

Check out my website or DM me CHANGE and im happy to connect with you to see how I can support your journey.

Spring is a season of transition.

We come out of the slow of winter and start to re-engage with our world. Yet, we dont have to rush into the energy of spring and summer. Just as the seeds slowly start to grow, so too can our energy slowly return.

Keep watching to see my reaction to seeing my first Robin of the season! Haha

I value conversations- not selling something that you may not even need or want!

I have been really feeling the tension of how to share my offerings without falling into the trap of the western way of marketing.

I have pulled away from social media because it doesn't feel like it aligns with my values. And, at the same time, I do love sharing my story and beauty of the island.

So, im sitting with this tension as I start looking ahead in planning my spring and summer programs.

And, I thought to put it out to my faithful followers!

What would you be interested in seeing more? Learning more? Experiencing more?

What has captured your curiousity in my posts and would love to dive deeper with?

I would love to hear from you. Feel free to comment or DM me with any quick thoughts of feedback.

As we mark the Spring Equinox, it is easy to want to rush to the part of spring when flowers are blooming.

Yet, early spring sets the stage for the bloom to follow.

This gradual shift toward spring reminds me of the process of growth I see every day in my session.

People, often start therapy wanting to see flowers of change right away.

And, as they start to slow down and connect to their bodies, they start to trust a deeper process of growth that takes time.

It takes time to thaw protective survival patterns, and build the roots of new life giving patterns. And, the more we tend to the soil and roots, with patience and compassion, the flowers do come.

Spring isnt all about the flowers. We aren't all about the flowers.

We are in process just like spring.

Do you get this concept in theory but find it really hard to slow down and stop pushing?

Trained in Somatic Experiencing, I help my therapy clients understand and tend to their nervous system to help their body's learn to safely slow down and trust the process.

DM today to start a chat to see if Somatic therapy is a right fit for you.

It is so hard to see the bigger picture when you are stuck in the middle of a challenge that feels like you have frozen in place.

Life that no longer fits can feel as heavy as an ice storm.

Let the trees be your reminder: You can step away from the cast that no longer serves you.

You can reclaim your life and move into new growth.

And, I can help you walk through the thaw.

DM me or comment THAW to start the conversation on how I can help you break out of your current confines through somatic transition therapy.
