The clinic treats over 2000 patients and has been operating for 10 years. The Ability Foot Care clinic is still accepting new patients who need medical and Diabetic foot care management services. The clinic is located on 70 Hardy Avenue, Suite C, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and operates Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Phone: (709) 489-0677. Regular maint
enance for foot health and the prevention of complications is an issue of great concern as health care providers focus on the growing numbers of senior citizens in our population, particularly those with vascular/circulatory issues and especially those with Diabetes. Studies have demonstrated that the prevention of complications and maintenance of healthy feet serve to enhance seniors’ quality of life and increase both levels of activity and community involvement (Helfand, 2003). The Registered Nurse with medical foot care management education and training is an important interdisciplinary team member in the provision of foot health services and is in a position to provide valuable care and education to the patient while focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. Strong assessment skills are offered to determine the level of care needed and the need for referral to a physician or appropriate specialist. At Ability Foot Care we offer:
• Complete physical assessment and examination of the feet
• Identification of treatment needs to determine individualized care plans
• Patient education
• Patient referral to interdisciplinary health care providers if needed
• Medical procedures to relieve pain and discomfort from foot and nail pathologies
• Basic care of the foot and nails
Please refer patients who are having any problems with their feet or if you suspect they need foot care by a Registered Nurse.
