Pet Therapy at ICAN 🐕🤎

Today both our clients and staff enjoyed a visit with some miniature poodles from Bel Vie Acres. It was heartwarming to see how much both clients and staff enjoyed this special therapy visit.

We can’t wait to welcome these furry visitors back!

January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.

This is an important time to learn the facts, increase understanding, and avoid the spread of misinformation. By building awareness and reducing stigma, we can show meaningful support for persons living with dementia, as well as their families and care partners, and help create a more informed and compassionate community.🩵

Stigma against dementia encompasses any negative attitude or discriminatory behaviour against people living with dementia, based on their condition or diagnosis. When a disease is as prevalent as dementia, yet still poorly understood, it's easy for false beliefs to spread. These negative beliefs and negative attitudes harm people living with dementia and care partners, affecting their self-worth and quality of life.

On January 28, 2026, for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, Alzheimer Societies across Canada are showing up with the Forget-Me-Not flower as a reminder to Forget No One - because no one should face dementia alone. Supporters are invited to demonstrate solidarity on social media with the hashtag to send a simple but powerful message and combat stigma.

We’re here to talk openly and offer support.

Stay Safe in the New Year - Cybersecurity for Seniors ✨

- Do not click on pop-up windows, respond to e-mails, open attachments, or go to website links sent by people you do not know. Your bank or credit union will not send you anything by e-mail unless you ask them to.
- Keep all personal documents in a secure place. If you don't need them, do not carry your birth certificate, passport or SIN card.
- Never tell another person your PIN or account passwords and take care to cover your hand when entering your PIN at bank machines and when making store purchases.
- Safely dispose of old bills and statements – shredding is best.

Stay safe this year and share these tips with your friends and family!
