It is great for rolling your foot on
. It allows the fascia in your feet to relax while supporting your nervous system. It is strangly addictive, feels weird at first, but believ me, you will be eqsilu adding this to your self care!🌈
It helps for many foot aches and pains, plantar fascitis for sure, but go slow and keep or light, more is not better for an angry tendon😡

Menopause begins at age 50
Fact or Fiction?

The average age of menopause is age 52, but you may start the perimenopause phase anywhere from your late 30’s to early 60’s, Yes 60’s (although rare)

You are officially in menopause when you have not had your period for 365 days. That means, if you don’t have your period for 10 months, then have it, start the clock all over again.

The perimenopause phase can last a few months to up to 15 years before menopause!!!

S*x hormones start to fluctuate creating a storm of symptoms. We now know that with the fluctuations of these hormones we become inflamed. Ageing also causes inflammation. This increased inflammation brings about the majority of our symptoms. The term is called Inflammageing.

Now, more than ever, is the time to take a look at what we are ingesting, our stress levels, our movement and our joy.

When a Reflexologist says, "this feels crunchy" or "I can feel the crystals" what do they mean?

Uric Acid or Calcium

We can accumulate uric acid crystals on our nerve endings.
You may have heard of uric acid along with a discussion about Gout? Having felt crystals or crunchiness does not mean you have or are moving towards Gout. Gout results from hyperuricaemia, a condition of increased levels of uric acid crystals in the blood that develops unrealized over years. The crystals literally cut through the synovial fluid sacks surrounding the joints, releasing the synovial fluid, and leaving the joint unprotected.

This is very painful

Reflexology can play a huge role in assisting people suffering from this swollen, red, hot, extremely painful condition.

One needs a dedicated multi-factorial approach is necessary to overcome gout. Doctors recommend an avoidance of alcohol, fructose-laden (sugary) foods and obesity. Exercise, vitamin C, and moderate consumption of coffee and dairy products are known to decrease the risk of insulin resistance and subsequent attacks of gout. Restoring a healthy digestive tract through dietary changes work to keep urates soluble/dissolvable. During an attack, soaking the foot in a warm epsom salt bath, followed by icing of the joint for 10 to 20 minutes, three times a day is suggested.
Since gout attacks occur more at night, when the body’s temperature has dropped and is tired, sufferers might also want to look at their sleep habits. Get plenty of regular sleep; go to bed before you’re exhausted and keep the body warm.

REFLEXOLOGY’S ROLE
Reflexology can decrease the pain associated with inflammation, support the taxed adrenal glands, help to flush the body of excess uric acid crystals and relax a hyper-stimulated body.
Don't worry, a skilled Reflexologist would not work directly on the affected joint. They may choose to work the hand, ears, around the joint, the adrenals, kidney and the lymphatic reflexes. Having regular reflexology sessions may help to decrease the uric acid/calcium attached to the nerve endings, making communication in the body better and bringing the body back to balance.

**Please note that reflexology will assist in the recovery of gout. It is not a substitute for the lifestyle changes necessary to overcome this painful condition.

Who am I?

Hello, Welcome to my page! I am Lisa.

I am so excited to have opened Meraki Integrated Wellness! I am now a Certified Foundational Reflexologist and I have fallen in love with this treatment. What is reflexology? Reflexology works to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. It acts on all parts of the body by stimulating the corresponding reflexes. It targets areas that are congested and have inhibited function; areas that have not been cleared by the venous circulation or lymph system. Did you know there are 7000 nerve endings found in the human foot? A reflexology treatment is deeply relaxing and helps relieve tension, stress and anxiety and improve circulation.

I would love for you to try this amazing modality! I know you will love it as much as I do!

I have worked as a BScN prepared Registered Nurse for the past 26 years! I have had the opportunity to care for the whole life cycle and I have been blessed to be a part of so many lives. The one thing that was missing for me in Nursing was a health care model. I feel as though our current medical model is so focussed on illness care. This brings me to today. I have been on a journey for the past year and a half to find out where I can promote health and be a part of one’s health journey. This has inspired my career change and this learning has been so exciting and inspirational for me!
