Helping little hands do BIG things!🖍️

At EPA for Kids, our occupational therapist, Taylor, supports children in developing the fine motor skills they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

Fine motor skills are the small, precise movements of the hands, fingers, and wrists that allow children to complete everyday tasks. These skills are essential for activities like:
* Holding and controlling a pencil for writing or drawing ✏️
* Using scissors ✂️
* Managing utensils during meals 🍴
* Manipulating small objects like beads, coins, or blocks 🧩
* Buttoning shirts, tying shoelaces, or opening containers 👟

Occupational therapy can help children develop these skills by strengthening hand muscles, improving coordination, and practicing real-life tasks in fun and meaningful ways!

One of the things we love most at EPA for Kids is being able to connect with our local communities!🌟

Earlier this week, Jessica led a presentation at EarlyON in Halton. She shared professional insights on motor milestones, common reasons to seek physiotherapy, and answered parents’ questions about their little ones’ motor development 👶

It’s always a pleasure building connections with local families and organizations💛

Pediatric pelvic health concerns, like bedwetting, is more common than many people realize. For kids, “bathroom accidents” like this can feel stressful or embarrassing. For parents, worries about how these challenges might affect their child’s confidence, self-esteem, or ability to join in with peers are very real!

That’s where pediatric physiotherapy can help. Read below to see how our expert team is here to support you and your child ⬇️

⭐️Pelvic floor education & training – Teaching kids how their pelvic floor muscles work, and using games/exercises to improve awareness and control.
⭐️Bladder & posture retraining – Encouraging healthy toileting habits, like proper posture, timed bathroom visits, and strategies to fully empty the bladder.
⭐️Addressing contributing factors – Tackling constipation, core weakness, or delayed motor development with strengthening, breathing, and core stability exercises.

Pediatric physio supports children (and parents!) with tools, strategies, and confidence so kids can feel comfortable and capable as they grow 💙

Have you ever wondered if there’s a relationship between torticollis and plagiocephaly? 🍼

The answer…there is! When a baby has torticollis and can’t turn their head freely, they will often rest in the same position/on the same side. This can lead to flattening of the head on one side, which is know as plagiocephaly.

Pediatric physiotherapy can help by improving neck movement, teaching positioning tips, and guiding tummy time to reduce flat spots on the head and support healthy development 💛

Early intervention makes a big difference and our team is here to help your little one move, play, and grow comfortably ✅
