Happy Halloween everyone! What's truly scary is the traffic delays on the way to our office! We know it hasn't been easy so we recommend, for those who are physically able, parking by the TD and walking over. Cut in behind Superstore/Irving to do so.

Otherwise, send us a message in the morning to find out what it looks like and plan to leave early. They're doing road work on the #3 (St Margaret's Bay Rd) from 6pm to 6am, but daytime still involves the PCR backups.

Deep breathes, stay calm, they'll be done soon!πŸ€‘πŸ‘»πŸŽƒ

🧠 Pain is not just in the tissues – it’s in the maps of the brain
Did you know that chronic pain often persists without ongoing tissue damage?
According to the sensorimotor theory of pain, mismatches between what the brain expects from movement and what it feels in return can create pain. This happens when cortical maps of the body become altered – think distorted body image, disrupted proprioception, or maladaptive motor control

πŸ”Ž Evidence shows:
People with CRPS, fibromyalgia, low back pain and more often show motor deficits, sensory changes, and distorted body representations.
Even imagining movement can trigger pain responses.
Distorted body maps are linked to cortical reorganization – a brain-level phenomenon

πŸ’‘ For osteopaths:
This highlights why hands-on treatment should not only target biomechanics but also engage sensorimotor reintegration. Approaches like graded motor imagery, sensory retraining, and embodied movement therapies may help restore congruence between body and brain.
✨ Key takeaway:
Pain can be maintained by sensorimotor incongruence. By addressing both the body and its representations in the brain, osteopathy has the potential to reshape pain experiences from the periphery to the cortex.
