Happy New Year from Ontario Nurses for the Environment! We would like to give a huge thank you to all of our members and supporters for helping us make our world a healthier place to live. We’ve grown so much as a team throughout 2025 and we’ve accomplished so much together. As we head into 2026, we want to prioritize living sustainability, purposefully, and in the present. Enjoy this calming video of the Bay of Fundy on a crisp summer morning, taken by Dominique, our social media executive, in Nova Scotia! 🌎🌊

How can you live sustainably in 2026?
💧Reduce water consumption simply by turning off the faucet when not actively in use, and taking shorter showers and less baths
💡Minimize electricity usage by lowering the heat on the thermostat, turning off lights when not in use (or setting up smart bulbs), investing in energy efficient appliances and lights, and unplugging devices when not in use
👖Thrift instead of buying new and mend clothes whenever possible! This is huge for reducing textile waste in our landfills.
🚲 Bike, walk, or take public transit instead of driving your car! This is great for both your physical health and the planet!
🍎 Buy local produce whenever possible, shop at your local farmers market, and eat a plant-based diet
🌱Compost your food scraps to divert food waste from landfills and give back to our planet
🗑️Properly dispose of hazardous wastes, such as batteries, paints, chemicals, and electronics

On Saturday, September 20th, we’re drawing the line— for People. For Peace. For the Planet.

From rallies to strikes, marches to gatherings, this September 20th, communities will mobilize across the country and demand that Prime Minister Carney and the Canadian government pick a side: injustice, violence, and climate destruction— or a just and safe future for all of us.

If you’re in the Ottawa area, please email ottawa@seniorsforclimateactionnow.org to join; everyone is welcome!

**For everyone else in Canada, please visit drawtheline.world to find a march near you!! It’s time to come together to fight for a change!! 🌎🌱
