Postpartum Depression Treatment Study Here we share evidence-based information on postpartum depression and its effect on infant emotional development.

We provide opportunities to be involved in research on non-medication treatments in Southern Ontario Postpartum depression (PPD) affects up to 1 in 5 mothers and has a significant negative impact on them and their children. Emotion regulation (ER) is established in infancy and affects an infant’s development in functioning across cognitive, emotional, and behavioural aspects of their life. The sym

• Feeling overwhelmed
• Feeling sad and tearful
• A loss of interest or pleasure
• Anxiety or excessive worry
• Having trouble concentrating
• Feeling hopeless, frustrated, or angry
• Having difficulties connecting with the baby

This page is run by a research group from McMaster University and aims to share new information about postpartum depression and its effect on infant emotional development. We offer opportunities to learn about and participate in exciting new research in the field. Currently, we are recruiting women in the Southern Ontario who have been feeling depressed since the birth of their baby to participate in a study of a non-medication treatment for postpartum depression. McMaster University is looking for mothers to be involved in a research study! This study explores how treating Postpartum Depression (PPD) with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can affect infant emotion regulation.

Mothers that are eligible to participate have a 50% chance of receiving free group cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) from trained professionals. All mothers involved will be asked to complete online questionnaires, phone interviews and study visits (in the comfort of their own homes or at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton) three times within the study.

You may be eligible if you are a mother living in Southern Ontario, are 18 years old and over, and have an infant 3-12 months old.
