World Health Day – April 7
Health doesn’t begin at birth.
It begins long before conception.
At the Waterbirth Coalition of Canada, we recognize that preconception health, pregnancy wellness, and postpartum recovery are all deeply connected—and all equally important.
A healthy pregnancy is not created in isolation. It is shaped by:
• The physical and emotional health of the mother
• The strength and support of the birthing environment
• And importantly, the health of the father
Emerging research continues to show that paternal health plays a vital role in fertility, pregnancy outcomes, and the long-term health of a child. Nutrition, lifestyle, stress levels, and overall wellbeing of both parents matter.
From the earliest moments of planning…
To pregnancy, birth, and beyond…
Health is a shared responsibility.
Today, on World Health Day, we encourage families, care providers, and communities to prioritize whole-family wellness—before, during, and after pregnancy.
Because creating life begins with caring for our own.
