Loud opinions don’t outweigh solid evidence.

Recently, we’ve seen a rise in posts claiming waterbirth is unsafe.
What’s often missing from those claims? Context, accuracy, and science.

Waterbirth has been studied extensively across multiple countries and healthcare systems. When offered to appropriately screened, low-risk pregnancies and supported by trained providers with clear protocols, the evidence consistently shows:

✔️ Comparable neonatal outcomes to land birth
✔️ Reduced need for pharmacological pain relief
✔️ Increased maternal comfort and satisfaction
✔️ High rates of positive birth experiences

Fear spreads faster than facts—but facts still matter.

At the Waterbirth Coalition of Canada, we stand for evidence-based care, informed choice, and respectful maternity care. Families deserve accurate information, not fear-driven narratives.

If you’re hearing claims that waterbirth is “unsafe,” ask:
👉 Compared to what?
👉 Under what conditions?
👉 Based on which studies?

Birth choices should be guided by research, consent, and individualized care—not headlines.

💧 Waterbirth is not reckless.
💧 Waterbirth is not fringe.
💧 Waterbirth is a valid, supported option for many families.

📚 We will continue to educate, advocate, and protect access to evidence-based waterbirth across Canada.
