This journey of the past five years is something I will always cherish, not just for the humbling lessons learned, but for the meaningful connections and wonderful friendships that have come from it. Our community of dedicated, passionate, and deeply caring Registered Dietitians and Client Partners inspires me every single day to show up with my very best. Because I believe that love is always worth working hard for.

Wishing a very happy 5-year anniversary. Here’s to many more years of outstanding nutrition care for our seniors and to continuing to write this story together. THANK YOU to everyone who joined our 5th anniversary celebration dinner and to everyone who shared beautiful video messages - spending time with all of you meant the world to me! Thank you to Jane Oulton BHEc for sending us a spectacular bouquet of flowers that brightened up our celebration! And a very big thank you to our super creative and hard working core leadership team, this day wouldn't have been possible without all of you - 🎉 . These photos only touch the surface of what the night truly felt like and all the amazing friendships built along the way 💕 .

✨ New Blog Post! ✨
Our wonderful recent dietetic intern shared her experience working in long-term care with Orange Lily Group! This post offers great insight into what to expect as a dietetic intern in LTC.

Some highlights of the blog:
💬 “I gained valuable nutritional skills that are essential for my career as a registered dietitian.”
💬 “During care conferences, I was able to communicate with the residents alongside other professionals, which enhanced our collaborative efforts.”
💬 “Rather than simply treating illnesses, I was able to refine my clinical nutrition skills to help maintain residents’ functionality and prevent declines in their health status.”

What an inspiring post for any dietetic interns interested in learning what to expect in a long-term care setting! 💛 Thank you Bisma for providing us with such valuable insight!

October 6–10 is Canadian Malnutrition Awareness Week™

Did you know that up to 1 in 2 residents in long-term care is malnourished?

Malnutrition doesn’t always mean weight loss, it can be seen in every shape and size. Residents who are malnourished are also at higher risk of:
🦠 Illness and infection
🔋 Frailty and fatigue
🏥 Hospitalization
🤕 Falls
🩹 Pressure injuries and delayed wound healing
📉 Loss of muscle mass and independence

Dietitians play a crucial role in helping residents overcome malnutrition in LTC.
They ensure residents receive adequate nutrient intake by:
✨ Enriching meals with protein and energy
✨ Promoting hydrating foods and fluids
✨ Implementing safe texture modifications
✨ Encouraging frequent, energy-dense meals throughout the day

This week, we recognize the incredible work of our dietitians and LTC care teams for helping residents stay properly nourished 💛

Visit the Canadian Malnutrition Task Force website to access reliable resources and webinars to help advocate for the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition!
