"Oh, he just does that..." 🤔
Nose rubbing, biting the air, unexplained tripping, unexplained tail rubbing, weird sleeping positions, no sleeping, head tilting or shaking, kicking at the ground, needing to “warm up” out of one leg taking a short or high or dragging step. Peeing in the cross ties a lot, sitting on the wall, sitting on his water bucket.
Are you really comfortable with the answer “Oh, he just does that?” Or “That is just something she does - don’t worry about it.”
Let me ask you this: What are some of the things you just do?
Avoid carrying your saddle with your left arm because it hurts your shoulder.
Walk up stairs leading with the same foot every stair because the other will do - but it hurts just a bit.
Imagine you couldn’t tell your boss you can’t lift that today - or tell someone your little pain is a BIG pain today. Would you hope your caregiver is paying attention to your body language?
We are asking our horses to be our athletes, even if just to carry us on a trail. A little discomfort now can turn into a clinical lameness later, or worse - an injury. And early detection is far easier - and more affordable!
Bodywork addresses the little things before your horse is clinically lame, because the little things that they “just do” become the “mystery lamenesses” of the future.
