What we did instead 👇️
Because sometimes, what the Big Grocery™️ folks think is best, isn’t really best for what you’re dreaming up 😉
“Quit your job and go all in”
I worked my full time salary job as a recipe developer for 3 years while building L&O on the side. I gained experience, made connections, and made sure we were in a solid place before removing the safety net, and I have no regrets! Even if it meant my lunch breaks were writing up invoices and dropping off orders.
“Don’t mix business with family”
Hiring my mom in the second year, then dad, then sister, has been the most fun and rewarding experience. Getting to see them everyday at work brings us closer together. The key to keeping it civil? We know when to stop talking about work, and we make lots of time outside work to spend together to unwind.
“Don’t launch in hyper-saturated market”
Launching another tea brand when the shelves are already stocked to the brim can be intimidating, and many will say don’t waste your time. In my opinion, it’s more important to create a product that YOU are passionate about, and then you can give it your all, and you are more likely to succeed. No one does it exactly like you.
“Do your research before you get started”
I launched with 5 skus and a farmer’s market stall, before I was ready, and before I knew my market or my customers. I just thought it would be cool to make a tea that was delicious, functional, clean, and super cute in your pantry. Everything we are today has been learned on the fly, while constantly listening to our customers, evolving, and pivoting.
Thank you for being here all this time tea angel 🙏🏻💞
