I had the pleasure to provide a generous donation to the Scottish Rite Children’s Learning Centre of Hamilton, which is run by many volunteers to help children with dyslexia who have difficulty in learning and progressing through their school curriculum.

Some background from the Learning Centre for Hamilton.

The Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation Learning Centre for Hamilton provides free Orton-Gillingham tutoring to children with dyslexia. Tutoring sessions are held twice weekly (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday), each session lasting one hour. The program generally takes two to three years to complete. To date 12 children have graduated from the program.

The Learning Centre for Hamilton is part of a national program of nine learning centres supported by the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation of Canada. The Learning Centre has received generous support from the bodies of the Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodges, Eastern Star Chapters, corporations and individuals. The Learning Centre for Hamilton is totally dependent on donations to continue providing tutoring at no cost to the child or the family.
