You really can find beneficial compounds in almost anything…
even coffee ☕️
Coffee contains antioxidants.
It contains polyphenols.
It can stimulate digestion and bile flow.
But here’s the part we often forget 👇
Just because something contains nutrients
does not automatically make it nourishing for your body.
Coffee is also a strong stimulant.
It raises cortisol.
It pulls on the adrenals.
It can irritate the stomach lining.
Especially when consumed:
• first thing in the morning
• on an empty stomach
• in large amounts
Your body wakes up in a delicate, fasted, mineral-depleted state.
What you offer it first matters.
Warm water.
Minerals.
A nourishing breakfast.
Herbal infusions.
These tell your nervous system:
“You’re safe. You’re supported.”
Coffee says:
“Go. Push. Perform.”
There’s a time and place for coffee.
For some people, a small amount after eating works well.
For others, it’s better as an occasional treat.
The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is discernment.
Nutrients alone don’t determine health.
How something interacts with your hormones, digestion, nervous system, and blood sugar matters just as much.
Listen to your body.
