Join us for a rejuvenating, slow-paced, mindfulness-focused snowshoe journey in beautiful . We’ll travel from Strawberry Flats along the Shadow Lake trail under a quiet dark sky, embracing winter as a time of release, renewal and rest.

This program features guest speaker Larissa Peters of . Larissa grew up in Hope and lives here with her husband and children, working and playing locally. She attended UFV, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Geography, driven by a love of understanding and explaining her environment and a deep pull toward the interconnectedness of nature. She often spends time in her yard gardening, moving plants around, and preserving food and herbs. This is where she has learned to both explain and enjoy the world around her more magically and spiritually.
Larissa has been supporting people in growth and balance for many years, most recently spending the past three years at Touch Earth Reiki House as a Reiki Master practitioner and teacher. She strongly believes that connecting with nature and the changing seasons in a meaningful way is a vital part of living a balanced and healthy life.

Honouring the dark and welcoming the light.

December 21. The longest night of the year. This time of year we take time to honour the darkness because all life comes from the dark and end in darkness. The dark gives us time for reflection and inspiration, an opportunity for growth and rest. Without darkness, there is no light.

We can consider ways to honour the darkest parts of us that give us room for growth.
* Sit in the dark.
* Intentionally light a candle to welcome the light into your space.
* Have a bonfire
* Journal your thoughts on the
* Mimicking a hibernating bear by resting: napping, leisurely walks, eating a nourishing meal

Getting a Reiki session around the winter solstice can help welcome in light and shed the dark, can help encourage feelings of rest, can help us with times of reflection, can help us change our perspective around the dark.

How reiki has affected change in my life since taking level 1 in February 2023.

I’ve been nudged towards reiki for about 15 years. Starting with attending a general info session, leading to some close family learning reiki, and then feeling an urge to learn something new and a reiki class being available to me.

Since taking reiki level 1, I think my perspective on life has changed. My approach.

Willingness to bring awareness to imbalance in my life and making change. Reiki has acted as a gateway for me. Creating a daily practice, welcome room for more whimsey. Empowering myself to explore energy in a way that felt validating to my younger, child-self, who beloved she could talk to the wind and that thoughts created reality. Relearning all this magic as an adult has been fun, eye opening and empowering. Reiki has brought me closer to my true self. Empowering her and brining her to the surface.

I’ve used reiki in my parenting, to help calm down melt-downs and bruises. In relationships, easing tense shoulders. Helping loved ones and myself drift into a gentler, calmer and deeper sleep. I’ve used reiki to deepen benefits of a massage, support myself in tense situations. Breathe calm into a terrible moment. Even in an effort to ease traffic and driving conditions.

How I hope reiki reaches you:

I hope the way reiki presents itself through me is a way that feels authentic, fun, easeful and magical.

To live a spiritual life, you don’t have to wear crystals. To live a connected life, you don’t have to walk barefoot in the woods. To live a magical life, you don’t need to be a witch. To have a life that’s meaningful, you don’t need to be all good vibes. You don’t have to be anything.

My hope is that I, with reiki, show you how easy it is to integrate spiritual meaning into everyday life.

You can show up for your session and not be into deep conversation. Show up not knowing. You can show up for your session and have normal everyday conversation.

I will meet you with gentle and intuitive responses on why you might be stuck or struggling.

You will leave feeling lighter, grounded; leave feeling yourself, feeling calm and clear minded.

Reiki and spiritual practice don’t need to have a specific aesthetic; it’s just you, showing up how you are, for yourself.

Getting a reiki treatment helps relax you. It helps quiet your thinking mind so you can hear your intuition or maybe messages from your guides.

After a session, you and I can talk about any “day dreams” or images you saw. You can use your intuition to develop meaning and guidance from these images and your experience.

Further, being attuned to reiki energy supports individual spiritual growth and is a tool to use with yourself to reach clearer meditation states and be more attuned to your gut instincts: using your intuition.

Often reiki boots or brings to light other intuitive gifts people have. With reiki you learn to trust messages or instincts. This strengthening intuition.
The more often you trust your intuition, the easier it is to tap into it.

A reiki session. What is it? What happens? Why does it work?

Reiki is universal life energy. Energy that propels growth and renewal in every living thing.

In a session, you have the option of bringing forward an intention or goal. Perhaps you want to shed an old way of thinking, launch into vacation mode, reduce physical pain, or celebrate a milestone. You can also come with the soft intention of self care.

You spend the hour laying, cozy and relaxed. You might even fall asleep while reiki is delivered through me, to you and you might day dream, see colour or shapes or you might just melt into relaxation and serenity.

Reiki, as an energy practice, promotes relaxation. Similarly to stress or happiness being contagious, being around reiki energy, helps bring your body to a place of loving relaxation. When your nervous system feels safe and can relax, it is given the space and opportunity to heal. Reiki promotes that healing even further. Reiki is an energy of loving intention.

After your session you’ll be refreshed, feel relaxed, and you’ll have less physical inflammation. People report feeling “thoughtless, in a good way”. This feeling can even last for three days after.

Planting seeds! Root work…

Literally and metaphorically. Fall is the time of year to plant bulbs. Like garlic and tulips. While the weather is still mild, they spread roots and spend winter waiting for the warmth of spring to send up their new growth.

Similarly, fall is a time for us to reflect, turn inward, plant roots and sit in the cool dark while we wait for the season of growth.

Now is a time of rest and reflection. Going back to the roots. Thinking of the root chakra, at the base of the spine, that’s where our sense of safety, security and belonging: our sense of self rests. So think of this time as a way to nourish the root. Ensuring we have cozy warmth and safety, maybe that’s nourishing meal prep, getting enough sleep, budgeting, reflecting on our values and identity, journaling, connecting with our family and friends.

Reiki helps with relaxation and settling into ourselves. It helps with balancing the root chakra and encouraging this sense of safety and developing your true identity. Reiki is a great boost and complementary practice in reflection and changing patterns.

🔴 … Reiki period HELP!

I’ve noticed an increase, or a trend, of women coming to me for reiki lately, who struggle with their periods: heavy flow, bad cramps, dreading getting their period. Or at least it’s come up in their session that this is an issue for them. This is what we talk about:

Living in a culture that undervalues women, that neglects to teach us our power as women, that uses our cycles to teach us to dislike ourselves, rather than love and nurture ourselves creates a particular negative attitude about periods, about our bodies that fosters discomfort: emotional and physical.

We can challenge this narrative by letting ourselves rest when we have cramps, rather than powering through and ignoring our symptoms, taking a sick day, having a hot bath, maybe learning about the phases of our cycle and honouring them. But also, learning the power and strength in our cycles, finding connection with the moon’s 28 day cycle and more.

So how can reiki help with this? Reiki helps release old patterned ways of thinking. And Reiki helps new cycles begin. Reiki also reduces pain and inflammation. Helping with flow and cramps.

- Start talking nicely about your period,
- Honour your cycle and needs
- Place your hand on your lower belly and say thank you, give her a massage, stretch and move your hips
- Consider booking a session around the start of your period.
- Think about learning reiki level 1 to give yourself reiki.

Celebrate and menstruate! 🩸

Living with dread about getting your period, could actually make your period worse.

If you can be curious and loving towards yourself, your cycle and period, you will have a better experience. If you can learn to be gentle with yourself, rather than power through with life, when you have your period, you can learn to feel empowered and loving towards yourself.

Reiki can help you shed your unhelpful perspectives around periods. Reiki can help move your flow along. Reiki can help reduce inflammation and pain during periods.
