Yes — in some cases, you can RENT a casket. This typically happens when:

⚰️ There will be a viewing or visitation
🔥 The person will be cremated after the service

A rental casket is used for the visitation, then a simpler container is used for cremation. This is a legitimate and legal option. Ask your funeral home if they offer casket rentals and what is charged for this option.

Two terms worth understanding:

🏛️ COLUMBARIUM: A structure with niches or compartments designed to hold cremated remains (urns). Usually found within a cemetery.
🏛️ MAUSOLEUM: An above-ground structure containing multiple crypts for full-body interment. Usually made of concrete, stone, or marble.

📋 Not all cemeteries have these structures — check specific cemetery by-laws.
📋 Space in a columbarium or mausoleum must be purchased from the cemetery.
📋 You can purchase your urn from Casket Mart — you don't have to buy from the cemetery.
