You never have to apologize for your child’s behavior at my clinic.

If your kid is rowdy, upset, or runs behind the front desk, we don’t care. We aren’t a stiff, formal doctor's office. I don't need them to call me "Doctor," and I don't expect them to sit perfectly still.

We are here to get the data we need to help them, and we're going to have fun doing it. Leave the stress at the door.

I’ll spend 25 extra minutes if that’s what it takes to help a child.

The kids who are screaming. The ones labelled "uncooperative." The ones other offices have given up on.

Those are the kids I'm most passionate about.

The schedule is tight. The days are long. But when a scared child finally sits still and lets me look into their eyes — that's everything. Behind every smooth patient day is a team I've built, systems I've created, and cases I've stayed late for. Every child deserves to have their vision protected. Even the hard ones. Especially the hard ones.

💬 Have you or your child ever had a tough eye exam experience? Tell me below.

I’m Sophia Capo — Toronto raised, Italian at heart.

Growing up in an Italian household meant being surrounded by a culture rooted in community. A way of life built on connection, care, and the simple joy of being together. From weekends spent with cousins to the constant support of family, it shaped not just where I come from—but how I move through the world.
Now, as I carve my own path away from home, those values remain my compass.

I’m excited to share more of my journey, my life, and the lessons I pick up along the way.
Thanks for being here 🤍

My first triathlon is complete!

I competed in this triathlon in support of The We See BC Foundation, helping to raise funds for accessible eye care in our community. Vision care isn’t a luxury — it’s essential, and everyone deserves access to it.

Thank you to everyone who supported, donated, and cheered me on, this impact is something we created together. A special thank you to essilorluxottica for matching donations. We were able to raise over $10,000!

For those wondering: My time was 1 hour 36 min and 45 sec. Fourth place in the 25-29F age group!

I won the Young Optometrist of the Year 🥇

Still taking this in.

To be recognized for the work I care so deeply about—patient care, innovation, and raising the standard in eye health—means everything.
Thank you to my peers for this nomination, and to my family and friends who have supported me every step of the way.

This is just the beginning.

Better vision. Better care. Bigger impact.
If you’ve been part of my journey—thank you. And if you’re new here, welcome 🤍

Follow along as we continue to change the future of eye care.

I chose to do a residency because standard eye care wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to be the best I could be for my patients.

I trained with surgeons and neuropsychologists to understand the full visual system so I can identify and treat issues that standard testing often misses.

Your child deserves more than routine care. They deserve a comprehensive, high-level approach that finds what others miss.

Eye exams for kids should never feel like a test… they should feel like a game.

When I’m working with children, everything changes. We’re not just asking them to “read the smallest line” like we do with adults. We turn the entire experience into something interactive, playful, and engaging so they actually want to participate.

Think magic glasses, eye games, picture charts, and little challenges that help me understand how they see.

And the best part? When it’s done right, kids leave feeling confident, not overwhelmed.

I moved my practice to Kelowna because I believe in the power of a community based culture.

At A B See Optometry, our clinical work is driven by the same values you find in the valley: family, support, and looking out for one another. It is a privilege to build a practice from the ground up in a place that feels like home.

This is my first triathlon and it means more than you think.

On May 3rd, I’m racing in support of the WeSeeBC Foundation, helping families across BC access life-changing eye exams, vision therapy, and glasses they otherwise couldn’t afford. It’s the only non-profit of its kind in the province.

In addition, Essilor is matching every donation, doubling the impact and helping us deliver essential, gold-standard care to those who need it most.

I’m a big believer in a purposeful weekday.

Once the workday wraps, you’ll almost always find me outside—staying in motion and making the most of the light. Whether I’m hiking, playing sports, or training for my upcoming triathlon,
Nothing beats the reward at the end of it all: dinner in a hammock, right here in Kelowna.

How do you make the most of your weeknights?

My residency training in pediatrics and neuro optometry is the cornerstone of A B See Optometry.

This clinical background allows me to address complex visual conditions with the precision that peer reviewed literature demands. Expertise is the difference in your care.
