"In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields."
- John McCrae
Once again, we find ourselves having to post about dental cleanings without the use of anesthetics which can and do have a place and time for sure, but not on the whole. In this video, this girl is claiming that, because Prada the bully has a heart murmur, that she cannot be anesthetized and that is patently false. First of all, she is not a trained and licensed veterinarian so she is clearly unable to make that determination. And, secondly, it is very likely that Prada can be anesthetized just like humans that have heart murmurs, or kidney failure or liver disease etc get put under for hip replacements etc. We routinely do professional dental work under anesthesia for the pets under our care, it seems like daily, and they all wake up and go home the better for it. Based on the images of Prada's teeth in the video, we probably would have had her eat some turkey necks for the next 6 weeks at least four times a week as part of her diet and she probably would not have needed to have her teeth cleaned at all leaving $189 in her owner's pocket, sometimes a lot more for some of these hygienists!
Most dogs and cats as they're aging have some sort of health compromise and yet they are also the ones that most of the time need professional dental care. Not to say that a two and a half or a 4 year old Yorkie cannot be in dire need of a dental and this is commonly seen, but on average we're going to see senior pets needing dentals and boy do they feel better when they have their bad teeth extracted and the rest of them cleaned! So please consider at the very least, before you spend the money on these anesthetic free cleaning procedures, to get a Veterinarian or at least a technician checkup to show you what is going on with the teeth and what would be best for the pet as opposed to the pocketbook.
Many times there are teeth that have very deep pockets around the roots and might be mobile, but also some that have fractures which expose the pulp causing pain and or there might be fractures below the gum line in the roots that are not visible. X-rays are required.

What is hip dysplasia, and how do I know if it’s affecting my dog or cat?
Hip dysplasia occurs when your dog or cat’s ball and socket joint in their hip don’t fit together properly. This causes them to grind together rather than glide smoothly, causing pain and decreased mobility. Take a look at some of the most common signs. If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to bring them in for a visit with their veterinarian.

COURTESY POST:
MEET PIXIE!
She is 10, great with cats, great with small dogs. She’s older so she doesn’t like when you come at her quickly (at first at least), she needs to see you coming or she can be nippy (very minor, only telling you so she can be set up for success). She loves to be picked up, loves playing, she can throw her toy 10 feet!! Teeth and breath are good. She’s not a big barker, and her bark is not high pitched. She’s super super cute.
Thank you so much for sharing with anybody you might think would be interested! Her mom is 90 and I would like her to feel like she could visit if she wished, ideally.
If you are interested in giving Pixie a loving home please contact Hilary, at phone number 250-868-3642.
You'd think 3 receptionists would be enough for the phone calls!?😅

It can be very dangerous in severe situations. The most common signs to look out for are vomiting, lethargy, lack of appetite, diarrhea with a yellow and greasy consistency, fever, and abdominal pain. If you notice your dog exhibiting these signs, you should bring them to their veterinarian right away.

We post a lot about Dentistry, true, because it is such an important issue when it comes to your pet's health. And this sort of situation gets me riled up! This was one of our toy breed dentals today in a six-year-old Pomeranian that already had lost several teeth that had fallen out on their own and today lost the rest of them through extraction which took only 15 minutes!!! You can see the horrible condition that her teeth are in with almost all of them being loose and if they aren't loose the roots are exposed. She has not been eating well lately and just lies around without very much activity. It will be very interesting once her gums have healed up to see how she becomes a new dog which is the most common thing we hear after a situation like this has been dealt with properly. The very sad part about this dog is that she had her teeth "cleaned" at a dental hygienist about 3 weeks ago in spite of them being in this deplorable condition. Obviously this would have been painful especially without the benefit of sedation, painkillers, and antibiotics which are important for a case like this to make sure that her heart liver and kidneys do not become infected with bacteria in the bloodstream after this Dental. The dog DEFINITELY did not benefit from having her teeth done like that and unfortunately this cost the owner a good chunk of change. If your dog has bad breath of any kind, loose teeth, is not eating well, and/or has lost teeth without having them extracted, then this is not the kind of thing that you want to get done without anesthetic as it benefits no one other than the pocketbook of the person doing the job and very likely causes more trouble for your dog. ~Dr. Moira
