Exploring the unseen world can be worthwhile as there are many gifts awaiting you there. Just because we can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, although this is a common way in which people deny the existence of spirit guides, angels, & other unseen helpers in our lives. However, anyone who has encountered such beings can attest to the fact that they do exist, just as our breath exists, keeping us alive, even though we can’t see it. The wind exists, too, but we only know this because we feel it on our skin & hear it moving the leaves on the trees. All around us and within us are things we can’t see, & yet we know they are just as real as the grass beneath our feet. What we see & don’t see may just be a matter of perspective, like the ladybug who sees the leaf on which she sits, but not the tree the leaf grows on or the person sitting beneath it. The person beneath the tree may or may not see the ladybug, depending on where they focus their attention. Still, all of these things, whether seen or not seen by the person or the ladybug, exist in reality. Some people are more gifted at accessing that which we cannot see, but with an open & willing heart, anyone can tune into the invisible realm & begin to find their way.
Human beings have always done this, & it is only recently that we have fallen into distrusting the existence of what we can’t see. If you have lost touch with the unseen world, all you have to do is resolve to open your heart to its existence, & it will make itself known. Closing your eyes in meditation & visualization, or engaging the unseen through the written word are just two ways to welcome the invisible back into your life. Whatever you choose to do, cultivating a relationship with that which you can’t see is a time-honored human practice that can greatly enhance your life.....
Invite you to openly Embrace this as the Leo full moon energy communicates & invigorates you today.

A key lies in vulnerability — when we are willing to show up, uncertain and imperfect, we create space for a deeper connection. Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. When we’re open about our struggles, fears, and needs, we invite others to do the same. It’s important to embrace our imperfections, acknowledging that through this openness, we cultivate trust and intimacy.
Ultimately, the path to more meaningful relationships is paved with open hearts. It’s through the messy, beautiful process of truly seeing each other that we discover the power of empathy, healing, and shared humanity. So, let’s open our hearts, communicate with compassion, and lean into the relationships that matter most. Together, we can create a world where understanding and love are always within reach.

Journeys of lifelong evolution often begin simply. No matter how complex the goal or desire we have nurtured in our souls, the first steps we take are nearly always basic & uncomplicated. Navel meditation, a creation of the Taoist tradition & the oldest form of meditation recognized in China and India, is a simple practice suitable for those experienced in the art of mediation, yet it is also a wonderful introductory meditation for novices. It utilizes the natural rhythms of the breath & the regular movement of the abdomen as a means to focus awareness & rid oneself of extraneous thoughts. As you concentrate on the breath, the chaos within reveals itself, allowing you to gently train your mind to accept stillness as its natural state. To begin, assume a comfortable & natural seated position — either cross-legged on a cushion on the floor or in a chair with your legs facing forward. Maintaining an upright, balanced posture will ensure that you are physically centered and prevent fatigue. Close your eyes & relax your body gradually, starting at the toes & ending at the crown of the head. Take a moment to note any physical sensations you are feeling, such as the hardness of the floor under your legs or the weight of a piece of jewelry. When you are relaxed, breathe through the nose at your natural pace. With each inhalation, draw air deep into the abdomen, allowing the area surrounding your navel to rise and fall. Gradually focus your attention on the sensations caused by the inhalation & exhalation of breath. Feel the air flowing in & out of the nostrils as well as the expansion & contraction of the abdomen. If you find it difficult to concentrate on both sensations, concentrate only on the movement of the navel area. As you endeavor to commune with the breath, you may notice that your mind strays. When this occurs, do not attach any significance to your thoughts. Simply bring your attention back to the flow of air into & out of your body & the rise & fall of your navel. Eventually, the torrent of mental noise flooding your mind will slow to a trickle, & you will learn to control the current of your thoughts until you are no longer at the mercy of your reactions.

When we approach children with the awareness that they can teach us, we automatically become more present ourselves.
As grown-ups, we often approach children with ideas about what we can teach them about this life. It’s true that we have important information to convey, but children are here to teach us — just as much as we are here to teach them. They are so new to the world and far less burdened with preconceived notions about the people, situations, and objects they encounter. They do not avoid people on the basis of appearance. They can be fascinated for half an hour with a pot and a lid, and they are definitely not self-conscious in their emotional expressions. They live their lives fully immersed in the present moment, seeing everything with the open-mindedness born of unknowing. This enables them to inhabit a state of spontaneity, curiosity, and pure excitement about the world that we, as adults, have a hard time accessing. Yet, almost every spiritual path calls us to rediscover this way of seeing. In this sense, children truly are our gurus.
When we approach children with the awareness that they are our teachers, we automatically become more present ourselves. We have to be more present when we follow — looking, listening, and responding to their lead. We don’t lapse so easily into the role of the director of activities, surrendering instead to having no agenda at all. As we allow our children to determine the flow of play, they pull us deeper into the mystery of the present moment. In this magical place, we become innocent again, not knowing what will happen next and remembering how to let go and flow.
Since we also must embody the role of a loving guide, our children teach us how to transition gracefully from following to leading and back again. In doing so, we learn to dance with our children in the present moment, shifting and adjusting as we direct the flow from pretending to be kittens wearing shoes on our heads to making sure everyone is fed and bathed.

Our necks and backs, much like other parts of our body, have their own stories and needs.
Do you notice how we bow our heads with bent necks and rounded shoulders over our smartphones, laptops, and tablets? We might hold that position for several minutes to even hours at one sitting, unaware of what this posture is doing to our bodies. The convenience of our digital world can come with a cost — strain to our necks and backs. Constantly bending our heads forward and slouching at desks applies unnecessary pressure on our spine and muscles. This can result in discomfort, pain, headaches, and even more severe back problems over time.

Our necks and backs, much like other parts of our body, have their own stories and needs. Just as we nourish our minds with information, we also must nurture the pillars of our posture with attention and mindfulness. Awareness is the key. By consciously taking breaks, aligning our spines, lifting our chins, and practicing gentle stretches, we can offer our backs the daily reprieve they yearn for.

Healthy necks and backs support clear thinking and improved mood through optimal blood flow and nerve function. This holistic connection emphasizes the importance of addressing neck strain not just as a physical ailment but also as a component of wellness that can immensely benefit our lives. To start building awareness, add a timer to your phone as a reminder to take breaks where you stand up and do a few minutes of gentle stretching and mindful breathing. This will loosen any bodily tension and relax your mind, allowing it to be more present. Taking these kinds of respites can be a way to tap into the flow of your creativity and even generate new ideas or solutions that are right there waiting for you.

Emotional and cellular rejuvenation allows us to live more freely, uninhibited by the burdens of the past.
Embarking on a journey of healing can often seem daunting when the scars of trauma linger latently within us. What if we awakened to the idea that healing is not only emotional — it is also vibrational? Our cells, the building blocks of our physical form, harbor the potential to heal if we give them the chance. Emotional trauma can pe*****te deep within us, influencing our cellular structure, and unless addressed, it can manifest in a myriad of ways like poor immunity, chronic fatigue, and self-sabotaging patterns.

Engaging in practices that support cellular healing is paramount. Just as we feed our bodies with nourishing food, providing mindful care to our cells through meditation, somatic practices, and energy healing fosters a profound reset. Such practices realign the body's energetic frequencies, enabling the cells to release past trauma. Healing at the cellular level is akin to peeling back layers of old defenses and making space for renewal, much like a tree shedding its bark to allow for further growth.

As we commit ourselves to this transformative healing, we empower our entire being. This path of emotional and cellular rejuvenation allows us to live more freely, uninhibited by the burdens of the past. As our cells rejuvenate, so too does our spirit, creating a ripple effect of healing in our lives and those around us. In this sacred space, little by little, we liberate ourselves, transitioning from survival to thriving

02/01/2025

Expressing ourselves honestly in any relationship is essential to our well-being.
When we are in a relationship where we feel listened to and understood, we count ourselves lucky because we know how rare that experience is. We reserve our most intimate selves for the people who create an open space where we feel free to express ourselves and listen without judgment. These relationships, which thrive on open communication, can mean the difference between existential loneliness and a deep sense of belonging. We all long to feel heard, understood, and loved, and clear communication makes this possible.

Sometimes problems arise in the process of expressing how we feel, but it is always worth it to do the work. Even in our less intimate relationships, expressing ourselves honestly is essential to our sense of well-being. Whether at home with family or in the outside world, successful communication requires some forethought. Otherwise, we risk blundering through our relationships. However, too much forethought can stifle us or cause us to pad our words so much that we end up saying nothing at all or confusing the matter further. The good news is — there are many methods that can come to our rescue, from meditation to visualization to journaling.

If the person we need to communicate with is open to sitting in meditation together for a set period of time before speaking, this can be invaluable. When we are calm and centered, we can count on ourselves to speak and respond truthfully. We also can meditate on our own time and then practice what we need to say. A visualization in which we sit with the person and lovingly exchange a few words also can be a great precursor to an actual conversation. If writing comes easily, we can write out what we need to say. It may take several drafts, but we will eventually find the words. The key is to find ways to center ourselves so that we communicate meaningfully, lovingly, and wisely. In this way, we honor our companions and create relationships where there is a genuine sense of understanding and respect.

We all have the endless chattering and noise in our head, often referred to as the monkey mind.
It’s been called the monkey mind — the endless chattering in your head as you jump from thought to thought while you daydream, analyze your relationships, or worry over the future. Eventually, you start to feel like your thoughts are spinning in circles, and you’re left totally confused.
One way to tame this wild creature in your head is through meditation. Although the paradox is that when you clear your mind for meditation, you actually invite the monkey in your mind to play. This is when you are given the opportunity to tame this mental beast by moving beyond thought — to become aware of a thought rather than thinking a thought. The difference is subtle but significant. When you are aware of your thoughts, you can let your thoughts rise and float away without letting them pull you in different directions. Being able to concentrate is one of the tools that allows you to slow down your thought process and focus on observing your thoughts.
To develop your concentration, you may want to start by focusing on the breath while you meditate. Whenever your monkey mind starts acting up, observe your thoughts and then return to your breath. Some breathing meditations call on you to center on the rise and fall of the breath through the abdomen, while others have you concentrate on the sound of the breath. Fire also can be mesmerizing, and staring at a candle flame is another useful tool for harnessing the mind. Keep the gaze soft while observing the color, shape, and movement of the flame, and try not to blink. Close your eyes when you feel the need, and continue watching the flame in your head. Chanting, devotional singing, and mantras also still the mind. However you choose to tame the monkey mind, do so with firm kindness. The next time the chattering arises, notice it and then allow it to go away. With practice, your monkey mind will become quiet and so will you.

Journey to wellness - Healing starts within

Well it sure did take me a long long time to figure out who and what I was meant to be in this lifetime. It really all began Jan 2018. After we lost our mother (my mother in law) to a brutally devastating long drawn out battle with cancer. We were stuck. Lost in a pit of despair and sadness, unable to get our lives back on track. That first Xmas without her was so very hard to handle. We were stuck in a rut we couldn’t get out of (my hubby and I). I had a very good friend reach out to me about a healthy work out challenge she was getting into. So I decided to do the challenge with her and another friend....yup, that got me up and moving at least.... I was using a fabulous supplement line (Isagenix - check out my website if interested - becksvs.isagenix.com) that my hubby and I had been on for over a year at that point, and was feeling fabulous (and still do each and everyday). From that point, my hubby started watching me get healthier, and healthier, more motivated day by day, and he really wanted the same for himself, so he started working out regularly as well, on his own time, and in his own way, but we were finally able to start feeling alive again.

I won the first challenge. Blew my own mind. Won a free one month of personal one on one training with the same personal trainer that I had done the first challenge with. The one on one was amazing. Then I couldn’t resist doing the next challenge, then the next....ok so now I was obsessed with this Personal Trainer (Jessica Lawrence - Revive Fitness) and was feeling healthier then ever, and really felt like I was in the best shape of my life.....only kicker was....I just didn’t know when to slow down. Always GO GO GO in my life....also taking on alot of other peoples drama, issues & struggles. I LOVE to help people in need, and they have always really been drawn to me for that, I am the go to girl when someone needs something, because I never say no. I have always been, and still am really, one of those people that hides everything about me emotionally, always have my guard up, the strong one, the leader, the mom in a sense, the counsellor, the helper, to guide, the “whatever someone needed me to be” for them....BUT I never ever stopped for one second to take a look at myself and what I needed. Ya sure, working out and eating healthy is great for your body....but what about your mind and soul? Guess I never ever thought about that.....

Firstly.......my fulltime job was very very stressful & busy. A few years before I had experienced Anxiety (that is another story in itself, but that is in the past now), but never really did anything about it. So meanwhile, 2018 rolls around, I am working out, feeling super healthy, and right when I thought things were better than ever, WHAMMO....I started having Anxiety attacks at work. They eventually (because YES I was ignoring them) turned into full blown panic attacks.....I thought I was going crazy. I felt very alone, scared, and basically like I was having a heart attack each time, shortness of breath, dizziness and then the Migraines began. Of course, I had no idea what all of this meant at the time.....and I am not very good at listening to my body, well at least I wasn’t only a matter of months ago. If you googled the symptoms I was having, it sounded very much like a stroke. So I was rushed to Emergency in March sometime, the ER sent me straight in for several tests including a CT scan. The hospital thought I may have been having a stroke too. After my tests came back, I was told it was a Migraine, the type that mimics the symptoms of a stroke....very scary indeed. I was told that I had very high blood pressure, they started referring to me as having Heart Disease & told me I was at a high risk for a stroke. I am like WHAT? I am only 38...how is this possible? I was sent to a Neurologist. He told me to get a blood pressure monitor and to test myself daily and to find ways to lower my stress levels, I needed to gain control over my anxiety and panic attacks before they caused my blood pressure to get to a dangerous level. I was now at a high risk for a stroke. Then I had to wear a blood pressure monitor for 24 hours, once it was determined that my Blood Pressure was way to high, at dangerous levels throughout an entire day, the doctor pulled me from work May 1st. That was hard, I have a really hard time sitting still and not contributing to society. I felt, again, like I was going crazy, and so alone. And of course, anyone that doesn’t understand Anxiety, and also that it was contributing to my extremely high blood pressure, were very judgemental, ignorant, and not understanding at all. I would get alot of rude comments. “Just don’t be anxious” some people would say..... Or other such thoughtless things.....I felt so lost. Depressed, and alone again.

My doctor sent me to counselling. It was free at Interior Health, so were the courses that they recommended for me. I was sent to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & Behavioural Relaxation Therapy courses. This definitely did help....but I needed more.
