🐾 MYTH vs. FACT: “A warm, dry nose means my pet is sick.” 🌡️
❌ MYTH: “Warm + dry nose = fever.”
✅ FACT: A warm or dry nose is often totally normal. Nose moisture and temperature can change throughout the day because of sleep, indoor heat, hydration, weather, and even how much your pet licks their nose. 🐶🐱
🔍 Clues the nose isn’t a reliable “health meter”:
● noses often dry out after naps or lounging near a heat source
● winter air and indoor heating can dry noses quickly
● some pets naturally run drier than others
● a wet nose doesn’t automatically mean “healthy,” either
● the full picture matters more: energy, appetite, breathing, and behaviour
🚩 When to pay closer attention:
If a dry nose comes with low energy, not eating, vomiting/diarrhea, coughing, laboured breathing, nasal discharge, or visible cracking/sores, that’s a better reason to check in with your vet. 🩺
