About Us
Seniors’ Community Services is a registered charitable, community-based non-profit organization located in Kemptville, Ontario. Its core mission is to enhance the independent lifestyle of seniors and adults living with physical disabilities by providing meaningful, timely, and accessible programs and services that help individuals live well and independently in their own homes.
Since its founding, the organization has focused on fostering health, confidence, inclusion, and connection for older adults and adults with physical disabilities. It serves as a welcoming hub for rural residents in North Grenville and surrounding communities, relying heavily on a network of dedicated volunteers and partnerships with community stakeholders to deliver a broad spectrum of supports.
Services and Programs
Seniors’ Community Services offers a diverse suite of programs tailored to support physical well-being, social engagement, and daily living needs. Key offerings include Social and Recreation Programs; Active Living Centre classes (e.g., yoga, exercise), card games and workshops, day trips, and virtual engagement opportunities like Seniors’ Centre Without Walls, which connects participants via phone for wellness and interactive sessions.
Community Support Services:
Practical assistance, including Meals on Wheels, transportation to appointments and errands, foot care clinics, friendly visiting, telephone reassurance, and community referrals.
Volunteer Engagement and Community Role
Volunteers are a central force in delivering services—from meal preparation and delivery to personal visits and social programming—reflecting the organization’s community-oriented model. Through ongoing outreach, events, and partnerships, it plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for older adults and adults with physical disabilities across its service area.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing and leading the organization, including strategic planning, operations and administration, and program and service delivery. Other management responsibilities include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The Executive Director will build and nurture a collaborative and effective team environment with staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Leadership & Strategic Impact
Champion and integrate the organization’s vision, mission, and values in all strategic decisions, partnerships, and operations.
Serve as an ambassador and advocate for the organization within the community.
Maintain strong, visible relationships with community members to ensure programs remain responsive, equitable, and aligned with evolving local needs.
Collaborate with municipal and provincial partners, service providers, and community groups to influence systems-level change and strengthen community capacity.
2. Strategic & Operational Leadership
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of organizational strategic and operational plans aligned with Board direction and community priorities.
Ensure excellence in service delivery through oversight of programs, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
Support and empower staff in day-to-day operations while maintaining accountability for organizational performance and client satisfaction.
Identify emerging risks and opportunities and proactively position the organization for sustainable growth and impact.
3. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Foster a culture of open, transparent, and inclusive communication across staff, volunteers, partners, funders, and community stakeholders.
Build and sustain strong relationships with community organizations, donors, volunteers, and advocacy groups.
4. People-Centered Organizational Leadership
Cultivate a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing organizational culture rooted in equity and respect.
Provide strategic oversight of human resources, including recruitment, retention, performance management, succession planning, and leadership development.
Ensure HR policies and practices comply with relevant legislation and reflect best practices and organizational values.
Promote staff well-being, engagement, and professional growth.
5. Financial Management & Accountability
Provide overall management of the organization’s financial health, ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainability.
Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and resource allocation processes aligned with strategic priorities and funding realities.
Monitor financial performance and ensure appropriate internal controls, risk management, and reporting mechanisms are in place.
6. Funding & Resource Development
Develop and implement diversified funding strategies to ensure long-term sustainability.
Build and maintain strong relationships with grant-makers, foundations, service clubs, donors, and funding partners.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with Ontario Health Teams and other core funders to secure stable and ongoing support.
Oversee grant applications, reporting, and funder accountability requirements.
7. Governance & Board Partnership
Work in close partnership with the Board of Directors to support effective governance, strategic planning, and policy development.
Provide timely, accurate reporting to the Board to support informed decision-making.
Ensure compliance with Board policies, legal obligations, and reporting requirements established by funders and regulatory bodies.
Support Board recruitment, orientation, and development to strengthen governance capacity.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in a related discipline (e.g., nonprofit management, business management, social service, healthcare).
Three to five years in a leadership position, including managing staff and volunteers.
Experience in fundraising, including demonstrated experience in writing successful funding and grant proposals.
Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in program planning and development.
Strong financial acumen.
Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation applicable to the volunteer and community service sectors.
Previous work experience within the community support sector and/or a nonprofit organization is an asset.
Other Requirements
As a condition of employment, the candidate must complete a vulnerable sector criminal record check to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors.
Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of various stakeholder groups.
Total Compensation
Seniors' Community Services offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
Starting salary range: $70,000 to $85,000 per annum
Benefits: RRSP contributions, medical, dental, and insurance benefits, paid sick time.
