This an association study that does not prove that cancer was caused by the cellphone; however, as identified in the paper, cellular phone manufacturers typically place a warning in their manuals stating that direct contact with the skin should be avoided. This paper concludes with “…until sufficient safety data becomes available, prolonged skin contact with cellular devices should be avoided.”
Here are some other strategies from Environmental Health Trust (healthytechhome.org) that you might want to consider when using your cellphone:
• Carry phones in briefcases, etc., not on the body
• Maximize distance between phone and person.
• Do not carry a powered ON phone in your pocket or bra or hat.
• Avoid use inside metal vehicles—the radiation bounces & increases in a car, bus, elevator, train, plane.
• Text rather than call
• Use speaker phone for your calls
