The original vinyl siding on this home was uninspiring. Far worse, the weather-resistive-barrier (house wrap) was improperly installed and letting water in to the home at multiple locations.
We removed the siding, replaced the house wrap, strapped the house and installed engineered wood siding from Kaycan.
There were plenty of small challenges to solve, and there are plenty of unique details as a result!

This was a fun project for some amazing clients. Plenty of detail and custom touches brought these rooms back to life!

These radiator covers were brought onsite for fitting. Walls, floors and corners are never perfectly plumb, level or square... Particularly in century homes. These covers have been scribed to fit their environments and will go back to the shop for finishing.

We're starting to put the place back together! We're looking forward to the demolition phase being over but since it's winter and we don't want frozen pipes (and quite frankly frozen workers) taking out all the old insulation at once is not an option. We're also adding a layer of rigid insulation for a bit more R value and to reduce thermal bridging. Soon the place will look like a space ship.

Reposted from - We're no stranger to scope creep. We've had projects double and even triple in size. This one however takes the cake. What started as "two bathrooms" has escalated into a full house gut/refinish and the list seems to grow each day.
We had to remove some of the plaster on the dining room ceiling, as it was unsafe; at that point we discovered evidence of significant mouse activity, and the original 4 mil vapour barrier had deteriorated to the point it was brittle... The homeowner decided this was unacceptable, so all the plaster is coming out and that fiberglass insulation is being replaced with mineral-wool and blown-in cellulose, with an added layer of polyiso to reduce thermal bridging.

Although this is a significant amount of work, the home will be that much better insulated, have reduced air infiltration, and be less inviting to rodents.

Oh, and the bathrooms are going to be pretty great too! 😉

Follow along ... This one's going to be a doozy!

Lovely time of year to build a deck! Today wasn't as bad as it's been, I think it got up above the freezing mark and the wind was mercifully absent. It was a (literal) rocky start but it's coming together quite well. Everyone is really excited to see this one done... not just because we're cold, we also think it's going to look great 😆

2018 recap - who doesn't love knocking down a kitchen wall? We often see kitchens that have had the cabinets installed before the floor. Stitching in new hardwood to accommodate the change in layout was made considerably more difficult here by the fact that the original floor was an unusual width and thickness that had been discontinued some time ago. Nothing like custom milling a bunch of floor boards!
