May 22nd is World Preeclampsia Day. Preeclampsia is a serious perinatal complication that affects around 5-8% of pregnant, birthing, postpartum people and their babies worldwide.
Symptoms can include:
➾ High blood pressure
➾ Swelling in hands and/or face
➾ Severe headaches
➾ Vision changes or disruptions
➾ Abdominal pain
➾ Nausea, vomiting
➾ Rapid weight gain (more than 5 lbs/2.3 kg in one week)
