Dr. Melissa Bucking ND

Dr. Melissa Bucking ND Hi there! I am a naturopathic doctor in Guelph & Kitchener serving all of Ontario virtually.

I help busy people take back control of their digestion so they can reclaim their happiness and start to show up fully again. It is impossible to feel your best when your digestion is slowing you down. My journey to becoming a naturopathic doctor began with my own digestive problems. I felt dismissed and defeated when I asked for help which ultimately drove me to change this experience for others. Today, I work with people across Ontario virtually and serve the Guelph & Kitchener Waterloo area in person. I approach health from a position of abundance, focusing on what we need to add to life rather than simply cutting out food and fun. I am the creator of the IBS User Guide, the manual for busy women diagnosed with IBS who refuse to let their digestion slow them down. Follow along and learn with me on social media

“It worked… until it didn’t.”

I hear this a lot from my patients when I ask them what they’ve tried to help their gut (especially with constipation)

➡️A cleanse that gave them relief from bloating while on it
➡️Laxatives that helped them p**p for a while
➡️Cutting out certain foods that seemed to help but was too difficult to maintain

And then the bloating, pain, or constipation returned.

It’s frustrating. And confusing.

Those tools can be helpful. They just aren’t the full process.

Short-term relief is often the first step. But real healing means going deeper.
➡️ It means addressing the root causes.
➡️ And then creating an environment—inside and out—that supports the gut long-term.

Because if the stress, routines, and patterns that overwhelmed your system don’t change...

The symptoms will keep coming back. Not because you failed—but because your gut is still asking for something different.

This is the part we build together in my practice. It’s not a perfect routine or a perfect diet - it’s sustainable support that helps you feel your best even when life is busy.

And if you’re just getting started, I’ve created a free resource to gently give you insight and information to empower your journey.

✨ Grab The Happy Gut Checklist and learn the habits and foundations that support digestion—without restriction, obsession, or complicated protocols.

You can find it through the link in my bio.

There’s a lot of confusion out there about IBS — and it’s easy to see why.

It can often feel like it’s a diagnosis that is just thrown out there when they don’t know what is going on. And sometimes it is.

I’m sorry if that happened to you.

And I’m sorry if you’ve ever felt dismissed even though you are struggling.

But IBS is a very real condition. With specific diagnostic criteria, known underlying causes, and research backed solutions that get you feeling better.

Unfortunately there just isn’t enough time to go through the options in a 15 minute appointment. This is where I come in.

I put together this crash course carousel to start you off. It’s the most important bits of info I wish all my patients got when they were given an IBS diagnosis. It’s the stuff I wish I was told earlier.

IBS a combination of gut-brain miscommunication, imbalanced microbes, sensitive nerves, stress overload, and sometimes, plain old life chaos.

But we have real solutions that are actually realistic. They just take time, commitment, and a little learning.

Relief only starts when you support the whole system.

If this is the kind of gut health advice you’ve been looking for — gentle, realistic, research-backed — hit Follow so you don’t miss future posts!

And if you want more personalized support, the link for my discovery call is in my bio 💛

It’s easy to fall into the trap of cutting out food when your gut is not feeling happy— I’ve seen it happen over and over.

It makes sense. Eating is when symptoms tend to make themselves especially known.

But here’s the truth: your gut issues often aren’t about the food itself, but about how your gut is functioning (or struggling) behind the scenes.

Some of the real disruptors?
Antibiotics, restrictive diets, poor sleep, chronic stress, and inconsistent eating habits.

When we focus on these root causes, your gut starts to heal and function properly— and you can stop fearing every meal.

Ready for more practical gut health guidance without unnecessary food restrictions ?

I have a free guide - Happy Gut Checklist:
✅ why food triggers are symptoms not causes
✅ my 7 non negotiable daily habits for improving digestion
✅ 6 things to consider that are not food to strengthen your gut

Comment HAPPY and I’ll send you to link!

Your gut deserves better — and so do you. 💛
And if commenting isn’t your thing you can also grab the link in my bio and start building habits that actually support your digestion (without cutting out your favorite foods!).

I’ve opened up more hours to work together!

You can once again come see me for in-person appointments in Guelph at the beautiful Kura Clinic in downtown Guelph.

The dates are listed in my online booking platform so you can easily find them. I only have two days per month for these appointments.

I also expanded my hours in January for virtual appointments which you can now book Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

As always you can come see me in Kitchener on Tuesdays at Livewell Health and Physiotherapy.

I know I’ve been quiet in this space recently. I will be back here soon. I’ve been working in the background refining how I can help you best and keeping up to date on all things gut related.

I can’t wait to connect with you soon !
