Today we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to honour Survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home.
No Limits Goaltending operates on Treaty 6 Territory, and we are committed to doing our part to support reconciliation not just today but every day through our work with athletes and communities. Although we aren’t a government entity, the work we do aligns with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, particularly #88 supporting long-term Indigenous athlete development, and providing elite development opportunities for Indigenous athletes, or more specifically goaltenders in our case.
Over the past several years, we have been proud to partner with JRMCC and Team Woodland, and we take great pride in supporting the development of Indigenous athletes.
Coach Kyle has completed the Aboriginal Coaching Module and works closely with our partner Indigenous communities to make sure the needs of their goaltenders and athletes at all levels are being met. He is also working towards creating more opportunities for goaltending coach development within northern communities.
We are also fortunate to have Coach Alex, a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, on our team. Alex is an incredibly positive influence within the community, both at and away from the rink. He’s a tremendous role model for all of our goalies and athletes, and is a great support for them as well.
On this day, we pause to reflect, to listen, and to continue learning. We remain committed to walking alongside our Indigenous athletes, families, and communities in the spirit of reconciliation.etetes
