Ah. Back pumps 😮‍💨
One of my favourites but something I have *seriously* struggled with training since my surgery in December. I am *finally* getting somewhere with it. The weights aren’t huge but they don’t need to be because I’ve… lost some strength 😅

My goal with every client, first and foremost, is education. Following education, it is sustainability. This way, when they finish their program, they not only have the tools to proceed forward with their health journey but don’t find themselves stuck in the struggle of an unsustainable routine.

Proof is in the pudding: here’s , nearly two years after starting with me and has been on her own for well over a year. She continues to apply the information she’s learned and the habits she has created to completely upgrade her life.

If you find yourself in a position of ‘needing to be constantly hungry to lose weight’, or you feel like you’re burning the candle at both ends… your plan is not sustainable.

Never have I ever regretted a training session.
More often than not, my 20-25 minute drive home is this otherworldly experience of pure bliss and visible, boiling-over level of happiness. And this is how my Mondays always go.

Fun fact: I’ve been out of the gym for 3 months. THREE MONTHS. Let me tell you - my first lift back was humbling.
I took time out of the gym as I was heading into what I wanted to be a successful race season, and had started martial arts. I didn’t want a membership for 1 lift a week, so I moved my workouts to at home and a more run-heavy.
Long story short, my plan has had to be altered due to my back injury and me having heavy doubts in hitting the race goals I had in mind. So I’ve decided to step back on running and go back to my normal (I missed the pumps anyways 😉).

NEEDLESS TO SAY- what I pushed in the gym today was minimal compared to 3 months ago, and it hurt ten fold 🥲 whoops (but expected). And it’s ok! You don’t need to impress anyone in the gym. Just go in there and work.

8 weeks in with this beautiful client 😍

“Feeling great! Energy, mood, mindset all good.”

“I am super happy. I feel confident, and I’m feeling more at home in my own body again.”

Halfway through our program and boyyyyy are we making some incredible gains. Client is running longer distances with ease, energy is high despite a stressful job with an equally hectic schedule. Nutrition has become habitual and second nature. Habits, habits, habits. 🥲💪🏻🪴

Absolutely not 😂 if anything I think it’s actually one of my slowest recorded 10k runs 😅
Does it matter?
Definitely not. Here’s the thing. When I started running, I had no fancy watch. I didn’t have Strava (no offence ) and I sure af didn’t know anything about pace, what a good pace was, how far I was going, etc.
I went out on lead legs today hoping to hit an easy 7, and although my run never loosened up and I never felt amazing (still recovering from the week of karate), I decided to enjoy the view and go for 10.
And anytime I felt that twinge of regrets (pretty often from km 8-10), I kept reminding myself how freaking BLESSED I am to be even going for 10 today with all the bumps in the road with my back injury. Am I tired?
Yeah. Absolutely toast 😂
But it was worth it and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Lesson: go do the thing. And quit comparing yourself to everyone else, or even to your prior self. Run the mile you’re in. And enjoy the ride.

Here’s a little something we need to take 5 and talk about because I’ve had clients recently message me on the topic and have, as you can see, dealt with it myself.
You will face it often in life - the criticism of others (whether you asked for it or not). BUT, and I quote:
“You will never be criticized by someone doing more than you.”
Someone will always have something to say. Let em talk. Don’t get me wrong, you should ABSOLUTELY be able to take constructive criticism (if asked for) to improve. But don’t let what Jim Bob from TimBuckTwo eat at you. There’s another saying that goes something along the lines of:

“If you’re not pi***ng someone off, you probably aren’t doing anything important.”

If you’ve got people chirping, you’re doing something.

Let em talk. 🖤 because, after all, ‘What Sally says about Susie says more about Sally than it does about Susie.’ 💋
