One thing that helped me in the early days after losing my son – and still helps – was slowing my breath.

Not to feel better.
Not to calm everything.

Just to feel a little less overwhelmed.

If it feels okay, you might try this:

Inhale gently through your nose…
Exhale slowly through your mouth, as if you’re fogging a mirror.

Nothing to fix.

If you’ve lost a child to su***de and feel like your nervous system is constantly on edge, I want you to know this:

You are not broken.

Grief like this doesn’t just live in the heart - it lives in the body.

The overwhelm, the fear, the exhaustion, the waves that come out of nowhere… none of this means you’re doing something wrong.

It means something unimaginable happened.

And you are doing the very best you can🩵.

Mixed feelings about this… and I need to clarify… I love the journey I’m on now, not the journey that got me here (losing my son). However, as the healing unfolded, and continues, I’ve become softer, more vulnerable, kinder, more mindful and… more grateful for the stuff that matters, big and small.
I’ve learned to slow down and lean into what brings me joy. Choosing wisely what I want in my life for I have the power and control to do so… after being so powerless for so long. The road to get here was bumpy, unpredictable and full of blind corners. At times it was pretty dark and lonely… I couldn’t even see where the next step was.
But I kept going, kept doing the work (on myself)… until finally there was a tiny light that helped me see which step to take next. With EFT that light grew and guided me to next steps with more ease.
I know my son is with me, in spirit, as I hang this on my rear view mirror. I know he gets why I’m hanging it, and he’s smiling.

In our busy lives, we often feel the constant urge to do, to fix, to talk, to make things happen. But there are moments, vital ones, when the greatest wisdom lies in stepping back. Sometimes, you just need to sit still and let the water do the talking. Imagine a river, flowing steadily, powerfully, carving its path without a word. It doesn't rush to explain itself or force its way; it simply moves.

This simple act of stillness, of listening to the quiet murmur of life's currents, can bring immense clarity. It teaches us patience, reminding us that not every problem needs immediate action or a loud solution. When we allow ourselves to be truly present, to witness the natural flow of things, anxieties often soften, and answers we've been searching for often emerge from the silence.

Recently completed a walking challenge that got me moving outside more consistently. Grateful for this as it’s always been where the healing happens for me 🌲🌿😌💚. Here are a few of my favourite spots I visited.
Do yourself a favour… go outside… even if you can’t walk, go sit in nature. Leave the technology behind. Your mind and body will thank you 🍃🪾🥰🌲.
