Times are tough. We 100% understand. The price of EVERYTHING has gone up and paychecks aren’t going as far as they used to. We totallllly understand.
We are going to pick a few of these to do every day for fellow small businesses to help.
If you’re not an entrepreneur, you may not understand why the following things are so important to our business and how you, taking just a few minutes out of your day, could help immensely, without costing a dime.
1. Writing a review. Especially 5* Google reviews, are important when people are searching businesses, they look at Google and a higher Google rating will draw people in. For us, when people search Google for “restaurants near me” and we come up with a great rating, they are more likely to come visit us. We hear that’s how lots of people find us and we are so grateful for our Google reviews.
People also search restaurants on Facebook, similar to Google, and it’s important to have a high rating there as well because people will look at that number compared to others.
2. Refer friends and family. Word of mouth will ALWAYS be the best form of advertising. Always.
3. Follow their social media. It helps because when people see larger numbers of followers they believe there must be a good reason so many people are following them and it alludes to a good business. Obviously not always the case, but typically there must be something good about them if so many people are following them.
4. Share their content. Social media engines love shares, it means followers found it important enough to share. You never know, you share a post and your friend might be having a hankering for ribs, see one of our posts and they may come in and eat dinner. The power of sharing is amazing!
5. Engage with their posts. Likes, hearts, comments, etc., on posts helps Facebook, IG, etc., to know that people like what the business is posting and helps the posts get shown more if more people are interacting with a post. SUPER easy to do as you’re scrolling.
6. Subscribe to their emails. This is a free form of advertising for many businesses. Back in the day a business would pay for lists of leads but now, for free, they can build this list.
7. Give them a shoutout. Love a biz? Give them shoutouts on your social media so others know you love them. We are SO grateful for these free loves. It helps others find out about your favourite places too!
8. Cheer them on. However you can, cheer them on. 95% of business in Canada is made up of small/medium businesses. Cheer them on. Tell the world about them however you can.
Social media has made marketing much easier for businesses but it has also become a very busy and loud space with so many businesses marketing. Taking a few minutes out of your day to help your favourite businesses will mean the world to them. I promise.
I’m going to do this today for 5 of my favourite small businesses and I would challenge you to too!
