One of the most iconic sights of a postpartum home visit by a midwife is weighing baby in a sling scale. For a healthy newborn, we often start weight checks around day 4-5 as it is expected they will lose weight over the first days. After that we monitor for increasing growth and continue to provide support and education so parents can rest assured their little one is growing appropriately.
